We have two furbabies! Most days they're quiet, but they like to growl when they hear the doorbell or hear noises outside (during the summer)....I'm anticipating that the baby will hopefully learn to sleep through the noise? No?

We don't keep the house silent when E is napping, so there is always noise. He sleeps right through everything since he's used to it and I can get things done while he sleeps. This works for the dog too, if DH comes home or someone rings the doorbell and she barks E pretty much always sleeps right through it.

I read that it's not a bad idea to allow your dogs to bark around you every now and then while you're pregnant because it gets the baby used to the sound so it won't be alarming to them when they get here.

We have two pups and they can be barkers...my LO has learned to sleep right through it. like kiddosc, we don't keep the house quiet while she naps. I run the dishwasher, vacuum, etc.- doesn't bother her one bit.

Yes, she doesn't seem to notice anything when she is asleep!

Mine would sleep through barks. I also put a sign on the door that said sleeping babies please dont ring the bell. I don't know how they slept through the dogs but the second I turned on the water in the shower they woke up

Our little girl is 6 weeks old now and everyday except for Sunday our two big dogs bark like crazy during her morning nap, which is when our mail man comes and it has never once woke her up. I will add that our house is tiny- 420 sq ft. so no matter what they are barking at- mail man by day or racoons at night, they usually they end up barking right next to her bassinet. I agree with the previous posts about keeping noise through the house, when its quiet any sound is that much louder. Cheers!

Most barks he sleeps through just fine. Dang UPS truck always sets off my dog.
I work at an animal shelter, so there was always barking around me while pregnant- he would kick like crazy when the dogs barked.

For the most part, yes, though my dog isn't much of a barker. However, lately when LO is awake (eating, playing, whatever) and the dog barks, she will scream a crazy loud and terrified scream. It's weird and I hope she grows out of it.

we have 2 malti-poos and they bark at everything!!! Our LO is almost 3 weeks now and sleeps through it all. I think it definitely helped that they barked while I was pregnant. We don't keep the house silent either and he sleeps through everything.

In the early weeks she would jump every time the dog barked. I think she soon got used to it and now sometimes she'll wake up if the dog barks as I'm trying to put her down.
It's still the most annoying thing in the world!

My dog also only barks if there's a doorbell or knock on the door. Usually it wakes LO up.

My son eventually slept through all the barking, even our house alarm blaring just downstairs of his bedroom one morning b/c my husband didn't close the door completely. I'd say around 1.5 to 2-years-old. But I do have a little Vornado fan on low in his room for some white noise.

I hope so. Our dog only barks when she hears something or somebody comes to the door, and we don't believe in training her not to bark, because it's a good security measure. Particularly when baby is here!

She didn't learn to sleep through it until after she was in daycare and exposed to more noises. Now she sleeps through it but will wake up if I sneeze loudly...

Use white noise!!! My LO sleeps thru everything thanks to constant white noise :).

@mrsjyw: I heard that and tried that too. I made sure to keep the noise level up, and when LO was a newborn she would sleep through it. But then one day she just stopped. She would wake up to every little noise! And now she's a light sleeper. So I don't buy that theory. I think that people are just born light or heavy sleepers, and she's a light sleeper like her daddy

@Oceanis723: this happens when I finally go to eat somethin too! It's almost as if LO prefers me smelly and starving lol

She sleeps through most barks and they don't affect her much if she is awake. Our dogs bark at the air so, I'm glad she is easy going about it!

@anacarlin: yep, I am pretty sure they had an alarm anytime I tried to do something for myself like shower or eat they knew to get up
