I'm watching Castle right now and (spoiler alert!!!) they got married last week and this week, Castle carried her across the threshold into their hotel room! It got me wondering if I did the same when we got married? The night of our wedding, we were staying in a hotel... so maybe! It's been almost 10 years since our wedding though, so I can't really remember.
Did your spouse carry you across the threshold after you got married?

I don't think he did at the hotel the night of our wedding, but he did when we got back to our home after the honeymoon.

He did when we got to our home. And he did it again this summer once we closed on our new house - it was cute!

He would have but the bellhop was showing us around the suite, so it would have been awkward.

He did at the hotel and when we bought our first home a few months later he did it then.

Umm no! We were staying at place with really awful street parking. So he dropped me off, so I could go inside. Then, he parked the car a few blocks away. It gave me time to put on my wedding night attire and surprise him

Yup! We went home because we didn't leave for our honeymoon until the next day. I stood on the porch and he had to go around to the back door and let himself in, unlock the front door (the lock was broken), run back out, and carry me over. Haha

He did at the hotel! My dress was soaking wet and weighed about 4,000 pounds so it was pretty funny, lol.

Yup. He carried me across the threshold of the house we were staying at for the wedding and again once we got home.

No, my dress was so heavy and we were both so exhausted I don't think he did it at the hotel or when we got back from the honeymoon, our house isn't really set up for it! ha

Not at the hotel, but when we got back to our actual house a few days later he did. I had a bunch of luggage and was fussing with the keys and he said "hold on! hold on!" and hoisted me up. It was more funny than romantic, but a nice little memory. I have no idea what the actual tradition is supposed to mean though.

We stayed at the hotel that we were married in, and by the tie we got to the room he was pretty drunk and I don't think he could - didn't even cross my mind that this was a thing though lol

One is about evil spirits and protecting the bride by putting space between her and the floor. Which I'm fine with. But the other says:
"Generations ago, it was considered lady like for the new bride to be, or at the very least appear to be, unwilling to "give herself" to her new husband. Whether she was or not was not the issue, it was all about appearances. At the threshold to the bedchamber, the husband would have to carry her over to encourage her to go in." Yuck, no, no, no.

Yes. We got married about a mile and a half from our house. We went back to the house right after the ceremony just to have a little alone time, and he surprised me by carrying me over the threshold. Then we went to the reception and to a hotel for the night.

The best man and his wife ended up driving us back to the hotel room so we invited them up for a drink and his best man told him he needed to carry me over the threshold. Then he threw me on the bed
