Kinda... we switched her to a convertible in our main car at 8 months, but put the infant bucket and base in my husband's car. He would put her in it in a pinch (her head was still in a "safe" spot, more than 1" below the top). But I'd say we only used it a handful of times since the switch.

We stopped around 7 months because he was getting so heavy in it! But he outgrew it height wise about 2 months later anyway.

Occasionally we use the infant seat. We use it in my car on the occasion I'll be picking him up from daycare. So usually I take the traverse to work with the convertible and DH drives my car with the infant seat to do drop off.

Nope, we switched at 9 months.

We did not, but we could have, in that I picked the highest weight/height limit seat I could find.

We switched at a year, he was juuuust at the limit. I would have kept the infant seat forever if I could have - such a pain in the behind to use the convertible seat in taxis!

We will be...she's 11.5 months and 16 lbs, 28 inches or so. We've got a ways to go so we'll wait till after Christmas and all it's expenses to get a convertible.

We did in my car but DS still goes in his infant seat on the rare occasion that we go somewhere in DH's car. His car seat goes to 32 inches and 35 lbs so he still meets the requirements to be in it and doesn't seem to mind it.

She is tall (99th percentile) so outgrew it around 9 months.

No we switched before 9 months. LO didnt like reclining after that age

Well, Sadie is 9 months and still in her infant seat, and I don't plan on switching her until at least her birthday. She's pretty long (85th percentile), but her feet still don't hit the seat back. She's a skinny minny, so she's not cramped in there, and the buckles still have plenty of room to grow. I'll probably start comparing prices in February.

@photojane: It doesn't matter if her feet don't hit the seat back, she could still outgrown the length.

I am glad R is a peanut still, I am going to hold off buying two seats for as long as we can!

@JerricaBenton: @Smurfette: here's a recent picture. Her head isn't close to the top... definitely more than 2 inches to spare. I still feel like she's safe in there! The doc did say her height should start evening out (Dan and I are short), but I think by her first birthday she'll be pushing it & we'll need a new one.

@photojane: Yeah she looks fine to me but still watch the overall length. Our seat as a limit of 32" but R was only 25" at 6 months, so we have plenty of time.
R was 87% for height when born and at 6 months her doctor was like wow, she has really leveled off and then looked at both of us and well, y'all aren't tall so I won't be concerned about it. Ha!

He was too big for it by 9 months.

We switched at 7 months. He still technically fit but he was getting cramped (and was too heavy for me to easily carry him in it anyway). It was a PITA to get him buckled in.

No, we switch to a convertible pretty quickly. This baby would be going straight into the convertible, but then I got to thinking about strapping a tiny baby into a seat while out in -10 and windchill weather and decided investing in another bucket seat for bundling up while still in the house for the first few months would be worth it.

Right at a year. We got DD a Foonf as one of her birthday gifts for her 1st birthday next week. She's just about to outgrow her Keyfit, and we're road tripping across country for the holidays, so the timing was right.

We just switched a couple of weeks ago at 6.5 months! She is 29" so getting close to the 30" limit. She loves the convertible!
