Mine will. My mother had all 4 of us, naturally and with no meds.
I believe my sister also had her two children naturally with no meds.
I hope to follow the tradition. I want to.
What about you?

My mom did it naturally because she was afraid I getting paralyzed. My sister had drugs that failed her the first time, but they worked on her second child and she said drugs were so the way to go. So, like my sister I went the drug route. They also failed me, but for the little bit they did work the world was a much better place!

My mom gave birth to my brother and I naturally and it encouraged me to do the same. However, when the time came and I was 7cm dialated and could no longer breathe through my contractions, I went for the epi. I beat myself up for it and wished I could have been braver and stronger but whatever, there's no point feeling that way now, right?

I really wanted to give birth naturally since my mom did it without meds THREE times! I was a huge almost 10 pounder too. I said F it about 8 hours into labor though. I LOVE MEDS!

My mom had 4 natural births....but that was in the 70's and 80's.
My sister had an epidural for both of her births....I plan to follow her plan, not my mom's ; )

my mom did it naturally, but no way i was going to do it without meds! i seriously would have had one child if i couldn't have meds.

My Mom had meds...I'm totally going that was, as well. I'm not doing it because she did, I'm doing it because I can't imagine doing it w/o meds!!

My mom had meds for my sister and went med-free with me. My sister was induced for her first and had meds with both of her babies. I went med-free with my son. I figured if my mom could do it, so could I. I did end up asking for the epidural but I was already fully dialated so it was too late and I didn't get it. I'm glad it worked out that way.

My mom had no meds, all natural too. She said it wasn't popular back when she had us. It was pretty stigmatized especially amongst Asian women, probably just a product of misinformation. But I would not/could not do it without meds. My sister and friends have always said they were going to do it all natural while I said, bring on the epidural and bring it on fast. In the end, they all ended up getting the epidural. I believe in getting all the help you can get, why should labor be torture? I don't want to think back and remember all the screaming and pain when it's supposed to be the most beautiful moment of our lives.

My mom has her three kids naturally. But back then there wasn't as much choice. I had an epidural, and was very happy with my decision.

My mom had twins with no meds! I came out first and my brother was breech so they "reached up there and pulled him out by his feet".
I think she's INSANE! Drug me up and tell me when it's over!!

My mom never had meds with all 4 children but thats not why Im not taking them. Its just one of those things that I didn't even question when I found out I was pregnant and even in the worst parts of labor I was still 100% sure I didn't want them.

My mom had a badly place epidural with me. She wanted to go natural with her second baby (my sister) but the nurse talked her into another epidural while she was in the throes of pain. I feel like she would have pulled off a natural (and maybe shorter in duration) labor if she had a doula by her side. After learning more about doulas, my mom now says the same thing. For that reason we are hiring and doula and going in with the wish of a natural birth.

My mom used meds with my birth – but I was a really difficult, long labor and delivery (even though I was a tiny little peanut at less than 5lbs!). She didn’t have meds with my younger brother, but he was a very easy, quick labor and delivery (even though he was a big ole’ bruiser of a baby!).
I hope to go med free, but I’m not going to be a martyr about it. Meds are there and I’ll use them if I need them, for sure – especially if the baby is getting stressed due to me being in pain.

Not really. My mom didn't have me totally pain med free, but she didn't have an epidural either. I don't really have a specific birth plan in place, I'm just going to go with what feels right at the time. I'd love to be able to do it without an epidural, but I'm not going to hold myself to that.

Nope, She had an emergency c-section with me...then I had one with my daughter. We both were breech and they didn't know.

When I first read this post I had no idea if my mom had drugs or not. I asked her and her reply was "Don't make me remember, I went natural with all you big heads!" Love my mom, she's always talking about how I paved the way for my brothers and sister with my big head (I'm the oldest of 4).
My plan is to go natural--but I was doing that even before I knew my mom had us all natural. She was 17 and scared when she had me, if she can do it, I can, too (I hope!)

No, my mom had me naturally but her labor was super quick. It took me forever and it didn't even occur to me not to get an epi.

Nope. My mom had very fast labor, and mine wasn't so much. She was also induced with her first one a month early due to high blood pressure. She did it natural too, but "back then" I don't think many people used meds like they do now.
I am the only one out of my sisters that have had any children. I am sure they would use meds though too!

My mom didn't attend childbirth classes and strongly encouraged me to attend classes to learn relaxation techniques. She was way too stressed with childbirth so she didn't want me to be the same way! We shall see how my labor goes...

My Mom had 3 sections with all of her children. My MIL went natural with 3 of her boys including my nearly 11lb brother in law! Basically, i'd like to go as long as I can without meds but wont refuse them if I get to a point where the pain is entirely un-manageable.

Well, I am the first of my sisters to have a baby, but my Mom did have all 3 of us with no meds, even thought she did need augmentation (pitocin) with my youngest sister. I have no real desire to go med free though, I just think my Mom is nuts LOL!
