My LO sleeps pretty well so I'm worried that a crying newborn will disrupt her patterns. We have never used white noise...maybe we should start soon!? LO will be almost 16 months when her sister is born...all of our bedrooms are really close together!

No and they shared a room when DD was 4 weeks old! DS actually took longer naps after she was born too. It was a lot for him to take in.

Luckily we have bedrooms that are far apart so my older LO's sleep hasn't been affected too much. If anything, she wakes up the baby during nap times even with white noise.

I was worried about this too... But the opposite often happened and I realized that DD1 is a really deep sleeper!
It was DD2 who had to deal with wakeups and short naps a lot... It's unclear if that's because she's naturally a light sleeper or being #2 is part of that. She doesn't have the luxury of sleeping in for her afternoon naps, for example because no matter what, we gotta pick up her sister from preschool at 3pm. When she was a baby, she'd often wake up if her sister was playing loudly, even with white noise.
But in terms of during the night, for the most part, things went pretty well. DD2 loved to nurse, so it was an easy, fast fix for crying in the middle of the night. We didn't sleep train/CIO.
