One of the things I look fwd to is being able to help out at school parties, field trips, etc.
My parents were/are small business owners so it always made my mom (and us) sad that she wasn't able to help out a lot.

Nope. I'm okay with that. I would have been annoyed if they were there lol

No, I'm the oldest of five kids, so she wasn't able to participate in much until the younger kids were in school. I didn't like that in elementary but was happy for it in junior high!

My mom worked for my dad so she was able to set her own hours and take off whenever she wanted. DH and I already discussed that I'd like to work part time so I"m able to do stuff like that too.
I loved having my mom there, even through high school. I was in band and she would come to all my games and parades. It was nice having her there and know that she was there to support me..... and I was always the first to get water

My mom didn't work, so she was always coming on field trips and stuff, and I remember once she came in to help when our class did a cooking project. My dad was always "daddy of the day" at nursery school, and in grade school he used to come to our classroom and make latkes at hannukah LOL. He came to every one of my sports games, too.

Nope, my parents were never able to because of work. But I'll be with LO on a field trip coming up in two weeks. Should be fun.

@mrsjyw: Same... my parents were also small business owners so my mom could never volunteer
This is definitely something I'm looking forward to doing with L!

My parents always had to work and it doesn't bother me now. As a young kid it really bummed me out.
I work part time and night shift so I have been able to go on almost every field trip with DD #1 and volunteer in her room. She is in 5th grade this year, so I am sure my time as being cool and her wanting me around is coming to an end:(

Yup! Not all trips, but a good number of them. Sometimes I even think both of them did - one with my class and one with my twin brother's. I had no problem with my parents being around. I was really happy to have my dad there on our 9th grade band trip out of state for sure.
