My mom flew to MA to drop my big sis off.
My entire family drove to PA to drop my middle sister off.
I stayed in state so my parents, an aunt and some cousins dropped me off.

My parents drove me to college (2 hrs from home) and helped me unload my stuff and get my room organized, then took me out to dinner and headed home!

Yes definitely. I don't know how I would have gotten all that crap into (and later out of) my dorm room without them. Thanks M&D!

My mom, dad and sisters drove 8 hours away to help move me into my dorm. I was so homesick that I transferred to a local college after freshman year though.

Yes, my parents drove me and all my stuff 9 hours away to college. My dad actually helped me move across country to law school too. DH talks about how one of the good things (for them) of having kids youngish is being able to lug all their stuff when they move in/out of school!

They helped me move from home to residence, and then from residence back home for the summer after first year. I then moved back into an apartment, and into yet another apartment a year later. They helped move me each time Granted, I was only an hour drive away.

Yeah. They did. I lived an 2 hrs away the first year and 1 hr away the second year. I needed to use my Mom's minivan.

My school was a 2.5 hour plane ride way. My mom and I flew up several days before school started. She helped moved me in and was there right before classes actually began.

Yes, they packed up the car and drove me into NYC - but it was only an hour away. Spent the day moving everything in and then my mom cried when they left, even though I was coming home 3 days later before the actual start of school!

Yes but I only went 45 min away.
I give my mom major credit for helping me drive to boston for grad school with a car full of stuff including a couch. She had to help me get it all up to a 4th floor walk up. And then she drove the 12 hours back alone!

@chopsuey: where did your big sis go??
I went to college 35 mins away so they drove me. I also saw them every Sunday at church!

My mom and BFF went with me (5 hours from home)
At my college though there is an Orientation Team and they help all the freshman take stuff to their rooms so I think I carried 1 bag and that was it!

Yup, my dad did. I was only about a 2.5 hour car ride away. Load and go, load and go!

@chopsuey: Haha that's like 20 mins from me! I know so many Wellesley grads.. There's our likely IRL connection

I went to college in Maryland about 20 minutes away from home, so the first year, my Mom helped me move in, but all of the other years, I just borrowed the car and moved in by myself in installments.
My sister went to school in Massachusetts, so she and Mom made the trip up together at the start and end of every year. I think it was typically a pretty big source of stress each time, so I was pretty glad to have had the experience of being able to move my stuff in a pretty relaxed manner!

My mom and aunt drove with me (17 hrs) and helped me move in to the dorms my freshman year. My mom came back the next summer and helped me move to a townhouse. My dad came 2 yrs later to help us move to an apartment and both came when I graduated to move all my stuff back home.
They really like to visit the state where I went to college and we all continue to go back every few years.

Yes, they helped even though we only lived 10 minutes away from my college! lol

Yep, when I went to college I got an apartment with a friend, so my mom helped set it up and took me to Walmart/Target to get everything we needed. I would have been lost without her! She bought us everything we needed
