My favorite was Judith McNaught too! My favorite romance novel was from another author, though. A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux. Sounds so cheesy, lol.

I don't read romance novels just because. No real reason - maybe I'll read "Whitney my love"!

@Andrea: "A Knight in Shining Armor"??????? I HAVE to read that!

@Rubies: omg omg omg so good. I haven't read a romance novel since high school, though. I wonder if they stand up to the test of time?!? You'll have to tell me if you read it!

I love romance novels! My current faves are paranormal romances though, like those by J.R. Ward and Sherrilyn Kenyon.

I like Kristin Hannah books, but her's aren't the cheesy romance novels. My favorite guilty pleasure of all time is Star by Danielle Steel, such a good read!

I love historical romance novels by Eloisa James and Sherry Thomas as well as anything by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.

I heard romance novels were a big reason why Kindles were so popular. You can read a romance novel and everyone thinks you're skimming the Economist. +1.

@mrbee: HAHA. I used to make book covers and cover mine up!

I read a bunch when I was younger. I addition to Judith McNaught, I liked Julie Garwood and Catherine Coulter.

I read Nora Roberts all the time. I love her books.
@Adira, I love the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I definitely don't read them in public though. The covers embarrass the heck out of me!

@Leialou: YES!!! BDB is awesome!!! I read them in public though, haha. Those books have a surprisingly amount of... plot.

My friend has been trying to get me into what she reads which is like Romance/Paranormal. I read unwed and undead. It was actually pretty good. It made me laugh too.

I have recently taken a liking to Nora Roberts books ... but I average reading 3 books per week, so I have to keep my options open.

I used to read romance novels... i was addicted.. but they are basically very predictable to me now

@Mrsbells: That's why I like the paranormal romance series by J.R. Ward and Sherrilyn Kenyon. Although the relationshipy part might be fairly predictable, there's a lot of other story happening! Plus in J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series, although each book focuses on a different relationship, all the characters from the previous books are still around, which I really enjoy. And there's an overall story arc that spans multiple books, so it keeps things fresh.

@chopsuey119: I love that book!
I love romance books. My fav authors are Linda Howard, Judith McNaught, Julie Garwood, Lori Foster, Carly Phillips, and elizabeth lowell to name a few.
I've started getting into Nora Roberts and I love her new series that just came out about the brothers and the inn they are renovating. I loved her bride books about the four friends.

@mrbee: lol. No really, that made me laugh out loud! I can totally see it though. I used to read loads of romance novels but never, never, never in public. The kindle would have been awesome!
I like them predictable and cheesy. Go Mills and Boon!

ps Don't really read them now as I don't have those kind of idle hours anymore!

I love romance books now. Thanks to my kindle. Would I be caught with a real romance book? Nope!

Love! Huge Nora Roberts fan (McGregor's anyone?!?). I used to read them anywhere, no shame here. They're predictable, fun, easy reads that don't require too many neurons to fire, which I find relaxing. Now that I have a kindle, I go through them like crazy.
True story, I got a romance novel audio book for a car ride I was doing alone once, and I had to skip the racy scenes because it was making me blush! Back then I had the old nano with no screen, so skip ahead was like 15 seconds, then it would play. So here I am driving, racy scene starts: *skip* "pouting lips" *skip* "throbbing" *skip* "lustful" and so on. It was awkward to hear someone reading, even as I skipped and only caught one or two words here and there!

I've read a few Mercedes Lackey did for Luna. Otherwise, they just don't interest me
