My friend just gave birth and requested a mirror to keep her "motivated". Did you use a mirror? Did it help?

I don't think it will be for me, but, like you, I've heard it helps some women.

I do NOT want a mirror to be any where near me when I go into labor.

I did NOT want to see what was going on down there. *shudder* (my poor husband!)

I tried it, but it just gave me anxiety because i saw her head suck back in at the end of every contraction and i thought she was never going to come out.

Yes they showed me a mirror when I was near the end to motivate me. I barely remember it now though.

I didn't really want to see everything, so I would have preferred not to have a mirror. However, they did wheel one over without really asking me. In the end I think it was somewhat motivational to actually see the progress that I was making (especially b/c I didn't believe my husband when he said he could see the head). I mostly didn't focus on the mirror though, since all of the blood and carnage down there was kind of disturbing to me.

I didn't. They offered it to me because I kept asking DH what was going on down there, but it would really freak me out to see it myself. I was motivated enough, especially after they told me they saw a lot of brown hair. I wanted to see it too.... and not sticking out of my who-ha.
