I really want to make some art for lo's nursery. I already have the design and have sketched it out in a paint program, but I have no clue how to create it in a program that I can print high res images from.
What program can I use that isn't super complicated?
Any tips?
I might just end up painting it if I can't figure out a digital option but one of the three will be all text and I think it will be hard to make it look nice...

2 simple dinosaurs (mostly outline) over a chevron background. And then text: Rawr means I love you in dinosaur. 3 prints total. 11x14.

That sounds totally adorable. I'm a fan of Adobe Creative Suite, which makes it look polished/the text look good.
But, there are some free programs out there.
pixlr.com looks a lot like Photoshop and isn't that difficult.

Make sure the file is the size you want and 300 dpi when you create it, then it will print nicely

@Mrs. Superhero: What does 300dpi mean? So it should be 11x14 while I'm creating it and also 300dpi?

Ok, so I looked at pixlr and I also downloaded gimp a while ago. All of them are called "photo editors." What if I want to start from scratch?

@Mrs Green Grass: yes. dpi is dots per inch, so it's the quality of the image. 72 dpi is web quality and 300 is print. So yeah, you would create the image to be 11x14 and 300 dpi, they should both be part of the screen when you make a new image.
You can use gimp (and I assume pixlr, although I don't know what it is) to create things from scratch, they were just originally designed to edit photos but it's not all you can do. Look up some online tutorials to get you started I can't be much more help because I use photoshop for my illustrations, which is overkill if you only want to do up one little picture

Adobe Creative Suite is probably the best, but PhotoScape is another good, free program: http://www.photoscape.org/
