DH & I go back and forth about which gender we'd prefer, but I know that DH would like at least one girl. I am starting to wonder if the cards are stacked against us - the father determines the sex, right? Well, his dad has 13 siblings with only a couple sisters, and he had three boys. Only one of DH's brothers have had kids, and it was a boy! Looks like boys run in his family. On his mom's side, it's more 50/50, but does that really matter? Or does my family's?

My family had no boys born for 53 years until my older sister had my nephew 3 years ago.
My little sister then came along 2 years later and had my other nephew.
I had 2 girls before them.
My DH's brother has a boy and a girl.
Their parents had just the 2 boys.
I don't think it matters.
I think it's simply 50/50 chance. -
My hubby is one of two boys, and all his cousins are boys. We have a baby girl.
You just never know!

I dont think it follows a pattern. we have more girls in my family, but my brother ended up having 3 boys. Like @Artbee said you just never know

On my dads side, I was the first girl born into the family in about 60 years-I have two male cousins and 3 older brothers. My husbands father has 2 brothers and my husband has a brother so it would seem we are destined for boys. However, we've both dreamed that we have a girl. So who knows what will happen!
I think I want a girl more but I'd really like to have a little boy just like my husband. As long as it's taking us ttc, I'd love a healthy baby either gender.

My LO is a girl and for whatever reason, I feel like any other children I might have will be girls, too.

From a scientific standpoint, it's only his genetic line that matters. Men predict the sex, and patterns can be predicted from his father and grandfather.
My Father is the only boy with 9 sisters. He had all girls as well.

So far, his sisters have 4 boys (they're done) and my brother has one boy. My parents had boy first then girl. His parents had two girls first then a boy. We shall see if we join the boy party or if we're different have a girl!

There hasn't been a girl born in DH's family in 73 years. He comes from a pretty small family--no cousins on either side--but to date there have been 9 boys born in a row.
My parents wanted a girl, and had three boys before they got me. My oldest brother had 3 boys before his girl, and his twin has 2 boys. So girls are rare on my side, but not unheard of..
DH's family is convinced that when we have kids, we'll give the McK family a girl (actually, they think it will be like 4 girls). They joke that we shouldn't bother thinking of names, and just call her "Princess". My BIL spent some time during Thanksgiving talking about how awesome it'll be when god-forbid some boy tries to date her. He'd be faced a whole mess of McK boys standing on the porch, cleaning guns.
We're pregnant now, so I guess we'll see!

I had a sister, DH had two brothers... we ended up with a girl! I really think it was luck of the draw. I kind of expect the next (if there is another) to be a boy.

There were 7 kids in my dad's family, 4 girls, 3 boys. 3 girls in my mom's family. My parents had 3 girls.
FIL has 1 brother, and MIL has 3 sisters and 1 brother. They had a boy (DH) and a girl.
We are having a girl.

@artbee: yay! there is hope for me! My DH is one of 3 boys. All his cousins are boys, all but 3 of their kids are boys, and my DH has 2 boys from a previous relationship.
I would love a girl to even things out a little!

My husband is one of two boys, and his uncle had 3 boys. My mum was one of three girls, and my dad had two brothers and one sister. I have 2 sisters and one brother. If we're going by my husband's genes though, it looks like we're destined for boys...but we both REALLY want a girl, and we always assume we're having a girl first, so who knows!

My husband is one of four boys. All of his brothers have sons. Our first baby was a boy. We are currently pregnant with our second baby. It's a girl. My husband was shocked to find out we were having a girl.

I'm the oldest daughter of the oldest daughter of the oldest daughter of the oldest daughter.
if that makes sense. But despite that boys run in both sides of our immediate families. Once you start counting cousine though there is more girls on my husband's side and more boys on mine.

FI's dad had a boy and then a girl, as did my dad (not that it matters I know.) FI's grandpa had girls and boys, so I think it's 50/50. I'd like a boy then a girl, so hopefully it works out that way for us as well!

On my paternal side, we have more boys than girls. Of my paternal cousins, there are only 3 girls, while there are 9 boys.
On my husbands side, of his paternal cousins, there are 6 boys and 4 girls.

On my mom's side there are 4 boys, 3 girls.
On my dad's side there are 3 boys, 3 girls.Then add in my brother & I -- my family is pretty evenly split.
On MIL's side there are 2 boys, 4 girls.
On FIL's side there are 6 boys, 6 girls.Then add in DH -- his side sort of leans to girls, but for the most part evenly split.

My side there's more girls and on husbands side there's more boys. I have only sisters (3), he has only brothers (2). When I asked my dad if he guessed what we were having he said girl because he only has sisters and daughters. My husbands dad though had 3 brothers and one sister so our families are pretty opposite. We had a little girl.
