My child (24 months) has never ever ever asked to go to sleep. Not for a nap or bed. Ever. I hear about parents saying their child asked to sleep and I have to wonder if we are normal lol.

My LO says she wants to go to bed but that doesn't mean she's going to fall asleep. I'm hoping she will one day.

He's only ever asked once. I got him in that crib so fast, so he couldn't change his mind lol usually if you ask if it's bedtime or nap time, he says no

No. Now that she's a bit older (closer to 3), she will say she's tired, but even then that doesn't mean she voluntarily cooperates to take a nap!

My little one says "night night" but she's just pretending. If I respond and say "do you want to go night night" she screams "NO!!!!"

I can tell you without a doubt, R will be the same way. She fights sleep.
pomelo / 5298 posts
Never! If we even mention sleep, the immediate response is either "I'm not tired" or "I'm not sleepy". She's usually rubbing her eyes as she mutters these phrases.

@MamaG: hahah same. If we mention sleep he will say "no nap" or "no sleep". Sigh.

@GrapeCrush: lol I would sprint towards that crib if he ever asked!

@MamaMoose: hahahaha same here... B loves to get in our bed and yell "night night" and pretend to sleep in mommy and daddy's bed...

You're not alone; LO had NEVER asked to go to sleep. I often ask her if she's tired/wants a nap/is ready for bed and the answer 100% of the time is NO! Lol

Sometimes he asks for his crib but it's because he doesn't want to do whatever it is we're doing.
J rarely naps - been that way since he turned 1 and these days goes to bed around 9pm, sleeps until 8am.

@rachiecakes: whenever I think of my child's low sleep needs I think of yours!

DS will be the same way. He's 10 months old and if he's occupied and playing, he'll keep on chuggin along. Even if he's tired, he'll march on. It takes a lot to get him to calm down enough for him to sleep (or a nursing session). GUess that's why he's such a terrible sleeper at night - ugh!

Christ no, DS has never asked to sleep. and never will. if he looks tired and i ask him if he wants to nap, he says "no". He's asked to play in his crib before, but only because he wants to play peek a boo or something silly like that. not to sleep!
grapefruit / 4278 posts
Ha! No, E never asks to sleep. He's also never just fallen asleep somewhere random, like on the couch, or in his highchair. He will sleep in his carseat, but rarely in the stroller.

My son is 31 months and I think last weekend was the first time he said he wanted to go back to bed to take a longer nap. Every night and every weekend is a struggle to get him to lay down! The kid just has low sleep needs much to my dismay!

Xander's only 15 months, but he has never asked to go down for a nap or bedtime.

She can be yawning, eyes closing, running into furniture, half asleep... But if I ask her if she wants to go to sleep, it's always a no
pomegranate / 3565 posts
My older son is the same way. He just does not require a lot of sleep. He sometimes will wander to the bedroom meaning he wants to go play before bed - not really go to sleep.
coconut / 8861 posts
Nope. We ask him if he's tired, etc. He tells us "no" all the time. He's tired, but won't go to bed willingly. His only cues are not wanting to read a lot of books and wanting to turn off the light after you've started the bedtime routine.

No, never. She doesnt want to miss a single thing. She totally ignores me when I say it's time for bed or a nap, and fights being carried up the stairs to her crib every.single.time.
coconut / 8234 posts
Um, no. Never. She will fight the sleep as hard as she can. Well, that's a lie, she asks to go to sleep when she is playing sleepy time and she closes her eyes and pretends to snore.
