If you clean it regularly and use the right size humidifer for your room you shouldnt get mold issues. we have two, a regular cool humidifier and a vicks steam humidifier. The regular one is great for the winter time because the air gets very dry with the heater on

We have a cold mist one and just keep it clean and the filter changed regularly. We've used it when DD has congestion but not anything visible; plus with DD being almost 29m she doesn't like the booger sucker anymore but hasn't quiet grasped the concept of blowing her nose.

We have a cool mist one and use it regularly, especially when Liv has a cold and during the winter. The Warm Mist ones are notorious for mold. cool mist ones are better. We have the Crane one and LOVE it. I put drops of eucalyptus oil in it and it helps with congestion

We also have a Crane and we've used it once since LO was born a couple months ago. It did help right away with his congestion, so I'm assuming we'll be using it more later this year when it starts to get colder.

@Mrs. Tricycle: We don't have one! Growing up, we only ever used one if we were sick.

we got the elephant one from our first shower. @mrs. cowgirl told us it grows mold and it's hard to clean~

I have one by Air-O-Swiss. It's pricey, but if you use a 20% off coupon from Bed Bath and Beyond it's reasonable. I'd rather buy a good one than a cheaper one and have to replace it. I use it myself in the winter, the heating is very dry and it helps me sleep better.
