Our LO's bedtime is at 7:30, which seems pretty normal to me especially for a 13 month old. But when people hear that they freak out and think that is way too early, and always make suggestions well maybe if you would keep him up later he would sleep better, sleep through the night, etc...
What do others think about your LO's bedtime?

Ha. People think I'm ridiculous for not messing with her bedtime, which is 6:30 now. They tell me I should just go to the concert or go to the party and let the baby sleep on me. Um. No. But thanks for the advice... 7:30 sounds like a great bedtime for a 13 month old if it works for your lo/your family!

My baby sleeps at 5:15 so um yeah ....
ETA - my 3 year old still sleeps at 6:30/7 so I've been getting comments for a long time. Don't sweat it. People are just jealous.

Our LO is usually goes down at 7:30 at almost 8 months old...and people think it's crazy early. She sleeps through the night & gets crabby if she's not in bed so she's just an early bird like her mom

They used to. She goes down around 7:30 now but she was going to bed at 5:45 for a while and people thought that was ridiculously early but a lot of people said it was probably nice. I don't think anyone thinks 7:30 is early but I don't know. We didn't move it back actually, she did it on her own. A lot of people I know have kids that stay up until 9 or later so maybe. I like it though and it works for us.

Yes! I don't understand it. My son goes to bed at 7pm and almost everyone I know who has children under the age of 7 or 8 have their kids in bed no later than 7:30. But I can't believe how many people of my parents+ generations think that 7pm is so early. I'm sorry, but I'm with that child all day and I need to have a couple hours to myself in the evening. Not to mention what a cranky pants he is if we keep him up later.

i remember being 6 or 7 and my bedtime was 8 pm, how is is 7:30 too early for a 13 month old?!
i think most people, even those with children, unfortunately, don't realize how much sleep children actually need. and i agree with a pp, they're probs just jelly!

The opposite, I get the side-eye when people find out LO's bedtime is between 9-9:30, because for now it lines up better with DH's work schedule.

Yep my inlaws think it is bananas that LO goes down between 6 & 7. They're SURE that if he stays up later, he'd sleep in later.... thankfully DH knows from experience that it doesn't work that way!

My 6 and 10 year old LO's have a bed time of 9pm.
The baby goes to bed when she decides to but she's only 6weeks. It is normally around 9 or 10 lately and she eats around 5 am and then gets up for the day around 8:30am.

No, but they frequently do suggest bringing him out with me to evening events and just letting him sleep there. Um, doesn't work that way but thank you for the suggestion.
ETA he's 15 weeks and his bedtime is between 6:30 and 7, only because that's the earliest we can get him down with my work schedule.

When it was 7, a lot of people said it was early and if I put him down later, he'd sleep in (and by a lot of people, I mean my MIL). This just wasn't true for him. It's now 7:30 and no one thinks that's weird for a 1 year old.

Right now, bathtime is 8:30 and she is usually asleep by 9pm. Wakes up between 7:30 and 8:30. Some people think it's pretty late for a four month old, but meh on their opinion. Works perfect for our family.

DS (8m) goes to bed at 7-7:30 depending upon when he finishes nursing. DD (3y) goes to be at 8-8:15. So I think your LOs bedtime is just fine.

yes! it drives me insane...she goes to bed between 6:30 and 7:30 depending on last nap time and I am constantly hearing, "keep her up later, she'll sleep better and sleep in longer" which isn't true at all

Yeah...at his preschool, the other parents would look at me in amazement when I tell him he goes to bed at 7:30.
He's probably going to be up til 8 next school year, but I'm not going to work on extending it until summer vacation starts.

Hey, the only reason my baby has an 8:30/9pm bedtime is because he won't go down earlier than that! I am a tiny bit glad he won't though since I don't get home until 6:30. If he went down at 6:30, I wouldn't get to see him!
But please, don't let anyone tell you to change it. They're definitely just jealous! I have the opposite problem right now where people think LO go to bed too late!

Her bedtime is 8:20ish, we start bath at 8. I always thought it was kind of late for a little one, but it's convenient for us because I want to be able to go out on weekends and not rush home before most people are even eating dinner.
Nobody says anything about it though.

Everyone always has something to say about how strict we are with nap/sleep schedules. We are 7-7:30 every single night and we stay away from going out to eat/parties etc. unless it is a super special event. Sleep rules in this house!

7/7:30 on the dot, ILs are shocked all the time, my extended family is sad because he's never awake for when they can come visit (small business owners)...regardless they're all happy that we have a sleeper!

We do bath at 7 and bed right after. People who don't have kids think it is crazy early. I am pretty flexible about staying out a little late if there is party or something though.

I think ppl w/out children think 7:30 is early. People w/children think after 8 is so late! K goes to sleep about 9:30/10 but has slowly been moving a little earlier to 9. Like last night, she didn't get more than 20 min (bath and bedtime routine) w/daddy all day.

@Andrea: i saw that K had a super early bedtime on another thread. how long does she sleep? Is she an early riser or just needs more hours?
ETA: if i put R down at 515, she would get up at 6:30 pm. or if we had that schedule, she would be up at 515 am. she's a 12 hour kinda gal with 1-2 wakeups.
@Springtime: that doesn't seem early to me at all!
R at 18w goes to bed between 7:30-8:30. 8 is my preference, but it really depends on her day and we're not strict at all.

@birdofafeather: it's not the best but this is what I have worked out since I have to do 2 bedtimes by myself. I put K down and then I can have dinner, bath, bedtime with my 3 year old. There have been a few times when she's slept through and yes, it means that she wakes up at 5:15 am! Er, not good. So she actually does have one wake up at 3:30 am and then will go back to sleep until 7:30 am when I wake her up because I have to take my preschooler to school. So I actually prefer that she wakes up that one time for now. I'd like to get her in bed at the same time as my preschooler when she is older. Then I can do everyone's dinner, bath, and bedtime all together so I look forward to that!!

@Andrea: that totally makes sense to me! gotta do what you have to, especially with the two of them! that one wakeup isn't bad at all. i'm impressed actually!

@birdofafeather: yeah the crazy bedtime makes sense when I explain it, right? So I do not mind the one wake up since it works in the grand scheme of things!
