I totally agree with @HelloBeeBoston!

I didn't have a RNP for my first but I will buy one for my second because it is more portable. I still want my LO to sleep on a flat surface for longer stretches so I will only use the RNP for naps around the house!

We only use the PnP for trips, so most of the time it's folded up in a closet. But we used the RnP every day. Actually we had two of them, one upstairs and one downstairs. They fold up so compact and quickly, easily stored anywhere.
I'm in a 700sf townhouse (3 floors, overlooking balconies, no laundry or storage).

We only have a rock 'n play. Our LO loves it! We use it for travel, we recently flew with it packed into an old army duffle bag where it hardly took up any room It's so much lighter and more portable than the p&p.

From everything I've heard and seen about the RNP, I think anything that helps your baby sleep for the first 3 months is worth it, even if you never use it after that! But I wonder if you could borrow one from a friend, since they do have a short life span?
I haven't even made a registry yet but I know I'll have a RNP-- either hand me down or new, depending what people offer me.

I only got the pnp (figured good for duture travel and play as well) and at 2 months wish I had a rnp as well. The cuddle cove on the pnp is nice but much smaller than the rnp. Our little girl is already too Long for it (24.5 in) but she's still not good with crib sleeping so I wish we had a rnp for her to be able to use it longer:

We have both LO sleeps in the RnP. We keep the PnP downstairs and we really don't use it much for sleeping but we use it every day for the changin station. I would hate having to go upstairs to the nursery for every diaper change. So for us, both items are absolutely necessary.

I think the PNP is much more versatile. You only really *need* the RNP if your baby is a fussy sleeper. We never used a RNP and did just find with the PNP that has the newborn napper attachment for when baby is really little. I always just assumed we would by a RNP after baby was born if we found we really needed it.

If you're registering and not buying I don't see why you can't register for both. The same person who wil buy the RnP probably wouldn't buy the PnP since there is usually a consiserable price difference. If you don't get one and you feel like you'll need it, you can always go get it after baby arrives.

We love our RNP and LO still uses it at 6mo. She is in her crib, but we travel with this and when she had a bad cold we had her sleep in our room in this sleeper. It's the gear we have used most. We held off on a PNP and got the 4moms Breeze a couple months ago. OMG, we loooove this PNP! We'll need to bring this as her travel sleeper soon since she'll be outgrowing the RNP, and while it's heavy it sets up and breaks down literally in seconds. We had LO sleep in this over the holidays while we had company and it was so quick to set up and break down that we were able to fold it up every morning and put in the corner for the day. We have a small house, under 1,000 sq ft, so I know how concerning space is. IMHO, I say the RNP is a definite for the first 6 months and then go for the breeze if you're doing a PNP.
