I just noticed that a puree pouch that I opened this morning for daycare says to toss after 24 hours. That seems soon! MOstly they say 2-3 days. Do you abide by these instructions?

I was just wondering the same thing! Sometimes I keep them for 4 or 5 days, but will taste a bit before giving it to my LO.

If they say 24 I will typically give it like 36 but @betsyboop I think the issue with going too long is not the taste but the fact that once saliva goes in it introduces bacteria that now have yummy puree to feed on and it can cause food poisoning even if it doesn't actually taste off. If you are really in a pickle you can squeeze it out and heat it but that kind of takes the convenience out of it!The same rules apply if you feed directly from the jar with baby food.

Yeah, I always toss if she doesn't finish within 24 hrs (I'm kinda paranoid), or DH will eat it

To clarify, I always scoop or squirt the purée out into a bowl so never contaminate the food. I squires some into a daycare bowl and now am wondering if I have to toss the other half. I guess I should but dang this was a happy baby organic pouch = $$$$

@Cole: @winniebee: Same, I never feed from the actual pouch or jar, I always feed from a bowl...

I feed from a bowl too (so no contamination in the pouch) but I toss after 24 hours. I'm lax about a lot, but for some reason I do stick to these guidelines. Im also a little anal about throwing away our food quickly too though
