I have read on here that you are supposed to dump the solids poops into the toilet, even from disposable diapers. But no one I know irl has even heard of this. I just can't figure out the logistics unless your changing table is in the bathroom.
So, do you dump the poop into the toilet, or just wrap it up in te diaper and dispose of them all together?

@photojane: There are a few reasons why (public health reasons), but as a bonus, there is no smell! And I am pretty sure that most diaper companies recommend doing so as well (ETA: Pampers, Up&UP (Target brand), Kirkland . . . for a few examples).

I never heard of this til Hellobee either! If I told someone IRL about it they would give me crazy eyes. Do I hold onto the poopy diaper, finish putting on the clean diaper, get my wiggly baby off the changing table, walk to the bathroom, scrape poop in the toilet (where has the baby waddled off to at this point?), etc? Doesn't seem realistic to me!

Waste water is treated. Garbage isn't.
That said...I dump when I can as long as it's an easily dump-able poo. If it's softer and more stuck to the diaper I'm not about to scrape it out.

Ahhh okay. Still not going to happen. That's the entire reason I'm not cloth diapering. Wiping the poo off her butt is enough contact for me.

Only logs but I'm in the habit because of cloth diapers. I set aside the diaper cloth/disposable, change LO, put her down somewhere, deal with the poop in the bathroom and then I put the diaper in the diaper genie or wet pail.

@oliviaoblivia: @MsLipGloss: is your changing table in the bathroom? That's what I can't figure out- she's got wild kicking legs and tries to either climb the walls or roll of the table as it is. I need to wrap that poop up fast or there's going to be a foot in it! (Yes, that happened yesterday).

This totally reminds me of The Princess Bride . . . our *disposable diapers* have essentially become the *inconceivable* from the movie ("You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.") . . . Sure, the diaper itself is *disposable,* but that doesn't mean that its contents are too.

@Foodnerd81: I have been changing LO on the floor for a long time now . . . I just set the diaper aside, finish changing her, and then take the diaper to the bathroom, etc.

Yes, if it is easy enough to get in the toilet. My husband is really good about doing it. We also like to show DD that poop goes in the toilet as a pre-potty training thing and let her flush.

No babies of my own yet, but I always dump it when possible!
At my parent's house, we have a changing station in the bathroom and can easily put it right into the toilet. No scraping or contact with the poop is necessary.

Put the poopy diaper (folded) on the floor, finish DD, pick her up then put her down then I pick up the dirty diaper, walk to the bathroom and drop the contents in the toilet. It's remarkably not a big deal and the dirty diaper is never within her reach.

I've heard of doing this for environmental reasons...I even have a sprayer from when we were doing cloth diapers. But honestly, it's one of those things I know I should be doing but don't.

@oliviaoblivia: we have locks on our toilet lids and I try not to even have them open ever in LO's presence. He's amazingly fast, strong and determined. If I'm headed for the toilet, so is he!

I flush poop. Like @MsLipGloss: said it cuts down on smell and is better all around. I've used gdiapers for both of my LOs and in the US you can flush the whole insert. Now that I'm in Europe you aren't supposed to flush the insert, so I always flush poo whenever possible. I just set the diaper aside or on the floor until I've cleaned up everything else and moved baby to a safe place.

If there's a pretty solid poop I will. I just change her on the change table and leave the poopy diaper part closed partially where she can't reach it. Change her into the clean one, put her down somewhere safe, and then take the poopy diaper to the bathroom, flush the poop, put the diaper in the pail in the nursery and then wash my hands.

Huh. I had no idea we were "supposed" to do this, but reading the rationale, it makes sense. Will start (probably only with easily dumpable dumps though )!

Yes, and our changing table was in the bathroom. The problem with putting solid waste in the landfill is that it can leach into the water supply and contaminate drinking water.

I do whenever I possibly can. I set the diaper on top of the diaper pail until I finish changing/dressing him, then carry it into the bathroom, flick it in, then wrap up the diaper and toss it.
ETA: I'm fairly certain Hubs doesn't do this. I should ask him.
