Her school even forbids branded underwear?!

I really want to stay away from any sort of "themed" clothing (like Disney, television shows, etc). I know sometimes it's unavoidable though if your child really gets into that stuff and wants it everywhere (sheets, towels, clothes, bookbag, etc).

We mostly stay away but I have purchased a few branded things for incentives, like when we took our first plane trip and I bought her a branded wheelie suitcase. She was so good and wheeled that thing around herself the whole time so it was really helpful!

As far as undies, I just did the same thing because I was inspired by the post! Did you go to Kohls? I just bought her Dora and Hello Kitty undies from there. I only had some normal ones from baby Gap at first but the potty training post had me worried that they are too boring!

So head on over to the Gap if you want some normal undies!

I think when they are really little, I wouldn't because I don't think they are that cute. But when they are preschoolers or older and if they wanted it, I don't see the harm. Unless it was freakishly expensive, of course.

@Mrs. Jacks: I'd agree if that's all you ever bought her. But a healthy balance of regular unbranded things with the odd branded thing (if it was something Jack Jack liked of course!) isn't the end of the world right? I don't feel like buying a pack of Cinderella underpants woud make you a bad mama- that's a lot of pressure to put on yourself!

@Mrs. Jacks: It depends. For underwear we purchased Pixar Toy Story and Cars so that it would make Mavrick excited about underwear (and potty training) hopefully.

But I'm not a brand type of gal. I find it ridiculous to pay for something pricey for no reason. AND I don't like my son wearing anything (visible) character related. I dress him like a little monsieur.

I'd SO do My Little Pony for a girl! Otherwise, I'm not into branded stuff. If it's something my child picks out and is a comparable price, fine.

Though I admit, I got my nephew a jedi outfit for his build-a-bear Kermit for his birthday.

I'm not a fan of anything branded...especially nike and under armor stuff on little boys. It drives me nuts. Hopefully we'll be able to avoid it with our daughter but I'm not going to be crazy about banning it because then it becomes a forbidden fruit and I worry she'll want it more.

Is the issue with name brands, or with character clothing? I don't have an issue with branded clothing, but we don't do anything that has licensed characters or lots of wording, like "Mommy's Rockstar."
