I want so badly to believe there is...to quote Jodie Foster in Contact "The universe is a pretty big place. It's bigger than anything anyone has ever dreamed of before. So if it's just us... seems like an awful waste of space. Right?"

Yes, I think there are living things out there.
I don't believe they are intelligent (human-like) though.

In our solar system? Not sure. Not intelligent life because I don't think conditions on other planets could support that, but probably other life forms.
In other solar systems? Absolutely.

I don't think there are aliens flying around in space ships. I do think that somewhere in the universe there is probably some form of life.

Yes, I think it's silly to assume that with all of the other galaxies out there that our little planet is the only one that has developed life.

I find it terribly narrow minded to think that we are the ONLY living beings in the entire universe! Somewhere....somewhere, we are not alone. I feel like our technology cannot even begin to grasp the concept or ability to see that far beyond, though.
I don't even think that another form of life would need oxygen, for example. Who knows!

I think living creatures yes (animals/plants), but I don't think there's another plant like Earth with human development.

Not in our solar system, at least not intelligent life (maybe little organisms, etc) but definitely in other galaxies. I don't believe any of them have come here though (or rather, that none of the 'alien'/UFO sightings are legit)

Of course. I think there is some form of life somewhere else in the universe. Is it necessarily intelligent life like us? Maybe not. Could be like animal or could be micro organisms. But I think it's pretty short sighted to think out of the entire giant universe we are the only place that generated some form of life.

Another form of life - absolutely! "Life" includes bacteria and very simple organisms and plenty of other planets have evidence of water and other substances that are ripe for life.
Creatures resembling humans though I doubt. We took so many evolutionary turns to get where we are today, I doubt that would be replicated in the same way on another planet. But, I wouldn’t be surprised by intelligent life that evolved in some other fashion!

Most definitely. I think I read somewhere that there are billions of galaxies. It's always funny to me when we humans are like "We're Number 1." We're just dots on a tiny speck of dust. With billions of other galaxies, the odds are too high for there not to be life elsewhere.

@lawbee11: I would bug my astronomy professor by saying, "You mean life as we know it...." I think there could be life forms that don't need all the same things in their environment as humans on Earth do!

@mrsjazz: Yes! I always love going to the Science Museum in Boston. They have this cool display showing our little solar system and where Earth is. Then the next display is our little galaxy and where our Solar System is. And each display just zooms out and out and out and we're like this tiny little blip on the edge! There is sooooooooo much more out there, we can't possibly be the only life out there! It's too unfathomable!
