We've been invited to a going away party for my husband's cousin and his wife. They have only lived in our city a few years, but they are moving away to the other side of the country. I'm not sure if it's standard to bring a gift or not or what we would give them. If it matters, we aren't close to them. While they lived here, they kept to themselves, so we rarely saw them.

Agree that I wouldn't want to saddle them with another thing to pack. So a consumable (maybe if they're driving cross country a cool "care package" for the drive) OR a gift card they can use for the new house - lowes or target or something like that.
ETA: I also wouldn't go overboard. Like $25. I just don't think this is something that is necessary, so a small token is nice. And I totally wouldn't expect a going away gift so I think if you want to skip it it's totally fine. -

A neighbor moved away and had like a bye barbecue. most of their items were already packed. I did get them like a $20 Starbucks gift card bc they were making a road trip out of their move cross country with two kids. Also, they gave us a whole bunch of outgrown toys, kids decor, etc that we appreciated so I wanted to show thanks. I had my LO make a small card and we just put the gift card in there.

If you're not close, no. If you were closer, I'd say something sentimental like a print or an art book of your city could be thoughtful. I've done (and received) things like that as a group gift - particularly a book used as a guest book where other people write messages. BUTTTTTTTTTTT......
Since you're not very close to them, I'd say it's totally on their closer friends if they want to organize something like that for the couple.

If it was someone I was close to, I would do a gift card, either for coffee/food for the trip or Target/Home Depot etc for the new home. In this case I'm not sure if I would!
Since you're not very close to them, I'd say it's totally on their closer friends if they want to organize something like that for the couple.
