A coworker is trying to convince everyone to buy these coupon books from her child’s school. I feel like I shouldn’t have to pay for coupons, especially since most of them are available free these days online and such… Is it worth it, in your opinion?

My mom buys them and shares the coupons w/me sometimes. The ones she gets usually have some decent grocery store coupons ($10 off of $50) but most are for smaller businesses. Could be a good deal if you like to eat out or want to try new things. Or to get your co-worker off your back...my mom gives the books as gifts sometimes as well.

I do, to support the schools. It more than pays for itself, if you frequent the places in it.

I do it to support the schools. It definitely pays for itself, but I have a terrible memory when it comes to using coupons so it doesn't help me. I consider it a donation.

We bought it one year, then MIL started buying us the entertainment book every year

I just got a card from a local school and it has discounts that are reusable for a year to about a dozen local retailers. It will pay for itself many times over since in this case they are not places that usually offer coupons (like 15% off all orders at our favorite takeout place and a free drink with sandwich at the deli we go to weekly.)
Can you look through the coupon book in advance?

The school around here has local business discount card. They are great! Plus a huge bonus for us is they are only 5 dollars.

Ours were $25 and I only bought it to support the school. The coupons were good until the end of the following year - so about 15 months of use. I did use lots of them!
