When did a standard greeting card become $5??? Ugh. I just went through about 20 of them trying to find a decent one and the one I ended up with was $4.95. I guess that's better than the one I had looked at before that was $6.50?

I KNOW RIGHT?! I buy personalized ones that I can make on Cardstore so I can somewhat justify the heavier price tag. Otherwise, I just bite the bullet and buy the OTC ones for a baby shower or other occasions.

Nope. Can't really stand them, I think they're a huge racket. I've never cared for them, and I especially don't care to pay a bunch of money for one.

Yes I love them. I love finding just the right card. And I love receiving them as well (provided there is a heartfelt message inside and not just a name)

I sort of consider them mandatory? Like for people's birthdays etc. But yeah they are expensive. You can buy big packs of them at Costco which helps.

I do, but 99% of the time I'll make a trip to the dollar store for one so I don't have to spend 7 bucks.

Yep. Buy or make. I have tried to start making them more and will buy if I don't have time. I also like to look for ones not made in China which I have surprisingly found at the dollar store sometimes.
The prices are sometimes pretty ridiculous!

If I have to, I buy the ones that are a $1. I think they're a waste of money.

Rarely. I don't really like receiving them either. It feels weird to read something then trash it.

Not for kids birthdays. We have these kind of "calling cards" that we slip in the gift so they know who it's from.

I get them from the dollar store. We go through a ton for kids birthdays. A few friends with preschooler kids have started hand making cards. I love that! Saving $ and they are super cute My LO can't form letters yet, but when she can, we will definitely be hand making cards for her friends.

Dollar store for sure! Or there's 20 packs of generic "birthday" cards that I rack up on for about $5. I can't stand wasting money on something that will be thrown away

I mostly buy them for kids birthdays, so the I buy the cheapy ones that are 5 for $2. I'll only buy the nice ones for special events.

@Mrs. Goose: I don't throw them out either. I have a box that contains ever card I've received since I was like 11! On a few occasions, I've read through them and it's such a nice experience. I also have a separate box where DH and I keep the cards we write to each other (they are like love letters/notes). I've also started a box for my DD which started with all the baby shower cards.

Yup, I do. They can be pricey but I think well worth it. At least that's what I think when someone sends me one because its such a nice surprise to get a card in the mail.

@looch: I buy cards from Trader Joe's too!
They'e affordable and feature artist like Hellobee's illustrator Oana Befort!

@Mrs. Goose: @Meowkers: I save them, too. Probably still have my wedding cards from 6 years ago somewhere. I know I have read them at least once well after the wedding.

Not since my daughter started loving art. I have nice paper that I take out and ask her to make a card. Then I take her "art" and make it into a presentable card. She just finished making a "card" for Daddy's birthday tomorrow!

Oh, and for kid birthdays, I made labels. I stick one right on the package.

@looch: that's what I do for kids birthdays - no card just a label like you would find on a Christmas package!
