it depends.
When you go to see Britney Spears or Madonna, etc, you're going to see a stage show with theatrics, costumes, dancing, etc. I'm not going to see a singer showcasing their vocal abilities.
If I were to go see Fiona Apple and she was lipsyncing that would be ridiculous. Unless she was hanging from the ceiling, breathing fire, doing backflips.
