We have a DSLR but I never take it out of the house bc it's so big and bulky, and we already have so much stuff with LO"s stuff. I always take pics with my iPhone and that's become my main (pretty much only) camera
What about you? Do you take your nice camera out? How do you deal w carrying it around?

Not usually, but if we're going somewhere that I think I can get good pictures I'll throw it in my bag. Like when we went to a Harvest Maze place with DH's family last October.

I don't bring it out unless I know I'm going to be doing something or going to a place where I want to capture really nice pictures. I usually throw it in a big purse, and leave the bulky case at home.

Same. I don't bring it unless we're going somewhere special where I want to capture nice pictures, like weddings or birthday parties. It's way too bulky and heavy for me to carry around on a daily basis so I just use my iphone or take my small point and shoot.

I used to bring it everywhere, but it stays at home most days because the iPhone usually does the trick if I need to take a few quick photos. I do bring my Fuji Instax with my at all times, and DH carries at least one film camera. We use the DSLR for special occasions. I do use it at home pretty often when I remember.

I got a neoprene sleeve for my DSLR and that way I can throw it in my purse or diaper bag without worrying about it so much or having to lug a big bag around. I also want to get an upgraded strap. I know ThatWife Blog just got one and said she likes it.

I only take it for special occasions or if we're purposely going somewhere to take nice pictures, like sunset pictures.

Only for occasions when I know I will be using it. I did get a gorgeous camera bag for Christmas from my sister and that makes lugging it around so much simpler and safer. It's large enough for keys, money and phone so I can use it as my only bag.

Nope, only on vacation (DH takes his DLSR when we travel). That's why I got a really good point-and-shoot - the photos it takes are close to DSLR quality, better than phone photos, and it fits in my purse.

@Seattlemom: I still love the sleeve I have. I just got a generic brand from Amazon. It fits the kit lens but not sure it would fit anything much larger than that.

I love love love this camera... it's incredible in low light, I literally never use a flash. There are a few new versions out, but the old one is still great (and is a little less expensive than it used to be).

Well, now that J is almost 2.5, we don't do diaper bags as much - if we're going somewhere, we'll usually keep it in the car and go out there if we need it. Often all we'll need is to keep one diaper and a few wipes on hand and those small. It's easier once they're toddlers to carry around less
