My older one doesn't make much of a mess anymore. Our 8 month old is eating finger foods like Cheerios and inevitably drops a bunch on the floor. We always pick most droppings up before we leave and leave a bit more tip.

Lo isn't very messy. But we usually pick up no matter what because we don't want the dog to eat the food, and he's usually out to eat with us.

I used to pick up more but the LO doesn't drop much nowadays either. I used to leave a bigger tip as well!

I definitely pay a larger tip but mostly don't clean up. When we have started, the servers have often told us not to worry. Fast food places (like chipotle) are a little different.

@brownie: the wait staff has always told us not to worry as well, but we still try to help them out a bit.

Yes. It drives me crazy at work if people don't so I try to give that courtesy.
Eta: I work at starbucks so we never get a bigger tip just tacked on. : (

I do! But it's more because I pick up as I go. I hate when parents leave the table a disaster zone with opened sugar packets and crap all over the floor.

I clean, I tip... I try to be a good restaurant citizen by keeping the kidlet quiet and entertained or at least entertaining!

We always clean up after ourselves now even though we're not messy. So I highly doubt when we start taking our LO out that we would leave her mess behind. I know it's their job to "clean up" but we just tend to pick up after ourselves!

The private room was pretty messy when we left last night. But the wait staff did an awesome job cleaning up and re-setting tables for their other guests.
I felt bad about the smash cake remnants on the floor and random food so we left a 25% tip. :T

No, just add more tip. I usually don't have time to pick anything up b/c he'll be off before I could bend down.

I always do. I couldn't leave a mess. We don't (generally) tip at all here so that is not an option.

I do what I can, but I can't sweep up cookie crumbs efficiently with a wiggly toddler.
Tipping isn't necessary here unless you get super service (the wait staff is well compensated), but if I were in the US, I'd add a bit extra.
