I don't bother transferring the funds to my checking when the amount is under $20....I will find random things to buy on Ebay or Etsy. Bows, stickers, bento accessories, cheap iphone cords, etc.

Usually if I have money in paypal it's from selling something on my etsy shop or selling something here- so I usually use that to get J new clothes... But the last time I sold something I saved the money for DH's birthday present

Yes!!! If my balance goes over $50 or so I'll transfer it to my bank account. But anything below that is for me!! (well... for the kids really, who am I kidding)

@mrs. wagon: haha, yes my kids too! I saved a lot of Paypal $ for a recent hotel room!

Am I crazy for thinking that any money I start making from selling artwork (which I'll get paid through PayPal) will probably stay there until I decide to buy something? Like, say, a new camera or a tablet. Just to keep it separate from our 'regular' funds - use it as a sort of personal fund.
Is that crazy?

Haha, it never occured to me to do this! I almost always save up my paypal money and transfer it to my bank account whenever the amount adds up to $50+... then categorize it as income and budget accordingly.

My Paypal balance can get pretty high since I use it to get paid back from friends so yes it is real money!

@NaturallyCathy: nope! I saved most of my money in there and forgot it! Let's just say: it was like Christmas morning when I remembered it! (I had sold a laptop and an iPhone in the same month and I thought I spent the profit but I didn't!)

@CupQuakeWalk: Okay, so long as its not a totally crazy idea. I don't want to have to set up a new bank account for this little venture of mine, especially if it doesn't do well and I've already been the green light that so long as I buy my supplies from the same fund any money I make is -my- money to use however I want.

Yep. I got my Mother's Day present and wanted another set of napkins. I emailed them for another set. She wanted me to paypal her. It was perfect because I just sold something on here. More often than not, I treat it like play money.

@NaturallyCathy: I used to do the same thing.... but then I was hacked and the money got stolen they stole $100. Now I try not to keep money there and use it minimally.
