It's kind of ridiculous how quiet we try to be when LO is napping/sleeping! But we live in a 1200 sq ft, 2 bedroom condo, so he's close by. Thank goodness for the Dohm white noise machine which drowns out a lot of our noise from the main living area, but we still practically tip toe around! I know we've been told to make a normal amount of noise to get him used to it, but I can't bring myself to be any noisier, haha.

No, but her room is upstairs and our room is downstairs. That plus the dohm means we can be pretty loud and she'll still sleep through it.

Nope. I try to be productive during naptime and am often vacuuming. Our mail gets delivered during nap time and the dog usually goes bonkers for the mailman. Thankfully it doesn't bother my kids.

No, but we aren't exactly making a ton of noise between 730 and 9, either. That's pretty much TV and bedtime for us! Hopefully E's white noise machine can stifle #2's crying

We also live in a small house and when he was a baby, we would totally tip toe around - if my husband was too loud I would freak out because I was so sensitive about his sleep. Now we are less careful and I hope I can relax for the next one, since I know Liam won't be doing much tip toeing.

No-- our house is smaller than yours, and we continue with our usual antics when the kid(s) are sleeping. Especially Char... she still stomps around like a dinosaur when baby bro is taking a snooze.

I did before we sleep trained because if she woke up-- it was over. Now I do try to keep really loud noises at bay but mostly we live our lives. The other night I was trying to make dinner after I put LO to bed because my husband was getting home really late. I was trying a new recipe and managed to set the smoke alarm off, which set the dog to barking. So I flipped the oven fan on high and I'm trying to fan the smoke away from the smoke detector and I'm yelling at the dog to hush up and thinking my baby will never go back to sleep after all this drama.... I looked at the monitor and she was laying there staring at the ceiling then rolled over and went back to sleep lol. So I guess I really needed be as concerned as I am even.

yes and DD is almost 2. She's an incredibly light sleeper and even when NB I tried to "Train" her to sleep with noises going on in the house. Forget it. Even with a sound machine and loud humidifier, she'll wake up if I drop something heavy, sometimes doing dishes or laundry, if the doorbell rings, etc.

Our condo size is very similar to yours but it's a 2 story and within the city zone so it's super noisy sometimes. She is use to all the traffic noise during traffic hours. I always have classical music on in the background and it has worked well for us. She does wake up to UPS delivery because they bang on the door very loud. So back to answering your question, no I don't, she is use to the noise.

Always, but my dog and DH do not, and she's never been woken up, so I don't know why I bother.

Nope. we want him to be able to sleep through noise. So far it's been going great....he could practically sleep through a hurricane. And our place is small compared to other Bees.

Yes! Their bedrooms are close by the kitchen and living room so they wake to loud noises. And both were around plenty of noise when they were little. I don't think it's something you can really teach!

Nope....her room is off our main living/kitchen area and we make no effort to be quiet. That girl can sleep through anything (including a 50+ person baby shower I hosted a few months back that occurred a few feet from her bedroom!)

When he was younger we were quieter but we aren't usually that noisy.
The other night the smoke alarm went off twice while cooking dinner and I thought we were in for it but he didn't even budge.

Yes, to a degree. Our house is a decent size and I know in theory that LO probably can't hear much with the sound machine going and all, but I still can't break myself of the habit. I'm sure LO would be fine with more noise around; it's just me and my darn anxiety.

During naps, yes I do try to be relatively quiet - I still get stuff done but I'm aware of noise levels. After bedtime though, nothing is waking him up - not even a fire alarm!

Yes. Our house is small, both bedrooms are on the first floor and our old hardwood floors make so much noise.

Only when walking by his bedroom during naptime. At night he will sleep through anything, but there's no way I wanna chance waking him up during his nap.

Usually I try to not be SUPER loud during nap time because he's a bad napper and we have a bungalow so hes right down the hall from the main living area. He does sleep through dogs barking and laundry right outside his room though.

I did with my oldest, and she is THE lightest sleeper. I swear I can put my hair in a pony tail and she shoots out of bed screaming "mommy! What was that?!?"
We've got a 1300sqft split home, so our living space is all on one floor.
Now that we've got two kids, it's next to impossible to keep the noise down. The baby has adapted. It's difficult to GET her asleep sometimes but this kid could sleep through a hurricane. She's successfully slept through a 3yo tantrum and me vacuuming right beside her.
I say make noise.

Not for D. He sleeps through everything. I try to tiptoe around when M is sleeping, but DH doesn't and it doesn't usually wake up M (dh is loud!). I guess I don't need to be as paranoid lok

Yup! I am also having new interior doors installed to help with the noise. We wake ds up every morning despite our best efforts!

No, but neither of us are really noisy. The TV is on the wall next to his room and it never seems to bother him.

We did! Even if the boys' rooms were upstairs far, far away from the family room in the back of the house. We had hardwood floors throughout the main level of the house so noise traveled upstairs fast. And my in-laws walk really hard and talk really loud... So...
We don't do that anymore now that they are older (almost 3 and 6), even if their rooms are right next to the dining room/kitchen area of our place here in Asia. Even if we have tiled floors it doesn't seem as noisy b/c we have so much furniture to mask it? Haha! Just glad they don't get easily woken up anymore. Only when my youngest wakes up and starts screaming for us. That's usually time for his big brother to wake up anyway so it saves us time to go and wake him up.

I try to be quiet but my DH refuses and he's so, so, so very loud! He is a pretty big guy and you can hear him walking around (well stomping around, as I call it) when he is downstairs and you are upstairs, he also needs lots and lots of ice in his drink so he's constantly using the ice machine and he's always talking on his phone loudly and in and out of the front door! It drives me bonkers BUT luckily DD is a good sleeper and I think most of my worry ends up being for no reason.

Not at all. Never have and she sleeps really well. I was concerned about making it too quiet and her getting used to it. Kid has never had a problem sleeping in a noisy environment.

Depends on time of day. If its nap time or in the evening after DS has gone to bed, we just tend to live our life. However, we tend to be VERY quiet in the early morning - we don't even flush the toilet - because if wakes up any time after 5am, he often doesn't go back down and I desperately need that morning time to pump and eat breakfast and get myself mentally prepared for the day, not to mention the little bit of extra sleep!

Even when we lived in our tiny condo and had the pack n play in the small hallway off the kitchen that was just closed off using a black out curtain, we didn't exactly make sure we were quiet all of the time. I know there were times where we had to bang pots and pans around to make dinner.
We don't do that anymore now that they are older (almost 3 and 6), even if their rooms are right next to the dining room/kitchen area of our place here in Asia.
