My friend has breast cancer (only 29 years old) and one request-keep up with your monthly boob exam! That's how she caught hers.
She is one tough cookie.
Do you remember to do yours? I have forgotten since LO was born--but that was a big enough kick in the pants to start again.

I do them in the shower. But I'm not great about keeping up with a certain schedule. I just do it on a pretty regular basis when it pops in my mind.

Crazy, isn't it? A good friend's sister just got diagnosed at 26. She has had 2 babies super close and kept getting mastitis so it was shrugged off. Finally, they took a closer look and discovered inflammatory breast cancer...she will be okay, but is currently doing chemo with a 18 month old and a small infant, like 7 months old.

Right now because I'm breastfeeding no, but I go to a yearly mammogram/ultrasound because I am at very high risk. My mom had breast cancer at 37, so they say to start checking 10 years prior... so since I'm 27.

Just as a reminder, you know your body better than anyone. I found a lump about 5 years ago and it was benign but when I went to the doctor and told her about it, she couldn't find it and I had to show her where it was. So do not rely on your doctor to catch it at your exam.

@Mrs. Sunglasses: Same here. My mom was 42 when she was diagnosed, so I had my first mammogram and ultrasound already. I do exams but since I'm breastfeeding I haven't been doing them since I feel my boobs all the time now.

@lydg: Oh my goodness! So glad they finally figured it out.
For those that have trouble remembering--since breastfeeding women are supposed to do it TWICE a month (what?! really?), I'm changing my test day to payday.
@Mrs. Bee and @MrsJazz: In college there was a "feel your boobies" campaign--touching them in general does help you know them, and it is much better than not doing any exam.
@Foodnerd81: Good work. 
@Mrs. Sunglasses: Do it after she eats... twice a month for breastfeeding ladies, since there is no cycle to go by.
