I do. I'm kinda jealous of my BIL's house right now because everything is brand new! Our home is a fixer upper that needs some fixing right now!

All the time. Our house is older and we've put alot of work into it but I long for a new house with a more modern setup!

Yes! I just love homes in general. We wanted a house with charm--so it's 85 years old and unique, but sometimes I wish we didn't have to put so much work into it!

All the time. I was cat-sitting in this fabulous house with tons of 40's charm and I want my house to look like that.

Only occasionally. Mostly it's for space, because we still very much want to be in the city so we are in a pretty modern condo (rented) that I really like. But then I see someone's pantry in their house in the suburbs and just drool. Most of our friends are only in starter homes and there aren't many that I'd prefer over our rental, for now.
Now, on TV is a totally different story! Our kitchen is perfectly fine, but when we see some of the ones on house hunters or whatever... One day.

oh yeah. i live in an apartment in a less than desirable neighborhood, i'd love a single family home in a decent neighborhood!

Yes! I work in real estate so I'm in and out of houses all the time. I always find aspects of houses I like better then mine. I still love my house though. It's definitely home.

I'm jealous of anyone that has a house. We failed miserably at the home buying process.

All the time. I wish our house was bigger and had a better layout. I also wish we could finish all the projects we've started.
I also get furniture envy, most of our furniture is used or hand me downs. We just ordered new sitting room furniture and I can't wait to put it upstairs.

Yeah, my brother and his wife have a really nice house. I would love it!

Sometimes.
Not really with our friends as most are still renting.
I just love real estate and always catch myself ogling over these massive homes with great backyards online. I am proud of where we are but I cant help but want more sometimes.
We have a mental checklist of what we will look for in our next home that we didn't think about as first time home buyers.

Definitely! I absolutely love our house, but I get very jealous of pretty and pristine mantles! We have a full brick wall in our family room where our mantle is, and I'd love a plain wall with a beautiful white fireplace trim and mantle...not going to happen!

All the time!!! We have a fixer - I am green eyed over all those brand new homes with no work!!
honeydew / 7444 posts
@Reese: I feel the same way you do. I'm always browsing MLS..."hmm, that 1.5 million dollar house sure is nice..."
pear / 1571 posts
Oh my word, yes! We have less than 2,000 sq. feet spread out over the main floor and the basement and the layout is anything but open, so it feels as small as it is. I get really jealous of friends with bigger houses- I can deal with a weird layout in a bigger house, I think.

Yeah - but I'm proud that we own a house that we can afford, and I hope they can afford their as well

Hate to admit it, but yes! We live across the street from a home with very French landscaping and colors, and when older people visit they're always telling us how much they love it! Argh.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
I love my house but there are a lot of people who have way nicer, newer, up to date, top of the line things in their house. Ours is old, some things are outdated, and it needs some help in areas. I'm ok with that it's what we can afford.

OH yes, on of my BFF is moving into a brand new home next month and I'm jealous of all the pictures, new appliances, floors, granite, ect. We have building on the mind but know it's not financially fesiable for another couple years so we can wish and plan for the future.

Yes, I love our home in so many ways, DH and I really have put so much work into this house so it really feels like it's ours. But there's so much more that could be done and always projects and half the time I feel like I'm cleaning up other peoples mess since the people before us just didn't put any effort into maintaining the place. So I def get jealous of peoples homes when they were just move in ready and don't have the quirks of an older home to figure out.

Nope, even if our house needs tons of work, our neighborhood compensates
coconut / 8279 posts
@Foodnerd81: same! we're in our dream neighborhood but not our dream home.
pomegranate / 3521 posts
@Freckles: I am such an MLS freak. If I see a house go up in our area I instantly log on and compare. "Oh well..their kitchen isn't as nice.. hmm but their backyard is bigger... "
I tell DH it is so I have an idea of the market and how much our house value is going up... which is semiiiiii true
I wouldn't say I get envy as much as admiration. I just really appreciate really nice homes.
honeydew / 7504 posts
Um, YES. Our house is pretty old and the kitchen is tiny and we hate our neighborhood.
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
Totally. Not with my RL peers because we have the best house. Although one friend has a cooler backyard, but then again he has a concrete slab for a patio. My fav blogs are home decor and then I get jelly.
pomegranate / 3809 posts
Only of how little maintenance people with new homes have. It seems like there's always something breaking here!
pomegranate / 3204 posts
Yes! I would love something a little bigger with all the upgrades!

I get envious when I see shows on HGTV and read blogs where people turn around home projects so quickly! We definitely have a fixer upper house (which we love and will be perfect someday), and it takes us forever to get anything done.
nectarine / 2220 posts
Yes, all the time. The average price of a single family home in our city recently surpassed $1M... so obviously we don't have one. We'll be crammed in our 800sq ft apartment with our new baby, and it makes me a little jealous when I see how affordable housing is elsewhere. The fact that we hate this city in general doesn't help...

I think for the first time, I am perfectly content and absolutely sure that there is nothing better out there for our family. I surf the MLS almost every day and haven't found one home that I like better. I'm sure someday there will be one. I'm equally sure that it will cost over a million dollars
coconut / 8861 posts
Yeah sometimes. I think we need a bigger space, so that we can expand our family. There's a neighborhood near my parents that has my dream home, etc. I wish that we could move to something like eventually.
