Not usually. I don't tend to look for them. I get so wrapped up in what I'm reading that I probably wouldn't notice if there was one.

I wouldn't say I find them a lot, but I definitely notice them if they're there. It always surprises me. You're being paid to write this book and someone else is being paid to proof your writing. I expect you to use correct spelling and punctuation.

I'm reading Team of Rivals on the Kindle right now and random capitalization and spacing problems are *killing* me right now. I can't believe that Doris Kearns Goodwin's editors would be so careless, so I hope it's just the Kindle version riddled with issues.

I hate it when I find mistakes! I always think books should be perfect haha!

@Sweet T: Yes! Exactly. Ugh.

I used to work with a lady who would complain when I proofed her work and correct her comma use. They were always in the wrong place! I could hear her mumble, "take out a comma, put in a comma - who cares??" Well, I was a proofreader, so I cared. She was a magazine editor, so she should have cared too.

@ladyfingers: I feel the same way...I'm in PR and there's nothing worse than a missed typo!

When I find them I go through two phases. First, I just stare at it in disbelief, like maybe I just misread it? Then I'm just irritated and can't help but know that at least two people (author and publisher) failed at their job.

Yes, they drive me batty! In another life, I would be a book editor. That is one thing that drives me insane about the Kindle versions.

My textbooks at work always have errors, I keep a running list for new editions since I usually know someone involved with the book.

@prettylizy: that's different! Books, articles etc are supposed to be polished and error-free because they're published in a professional environment. Not stuff like this!

If there is an abundance of mistakes then yes (hello twilight), if there are just a few or not completely obvious ones, then no.

I read and loved the first 2 game of thrones novels. My husband is on the first one and has picked up on a mistake that's continued throughout the book. The author uses "would of" instead of "would have" and we are both under the impression that "would of" is incorrect. We might be wrong, but either way, he's having trouble finishing the book because of it. Which makes me laugh.
