I am guilty of calling baby girl by her chosen name "Sienna" whenever I mention her to people. Do you find it weird? People calling their baby by their name before they are born?
I know for my Mavrick, I didn't as much, maybe because I was worried I wouldn't feel as though his name "matched" him when I saw him for the first time.

i don't think it's weird, but I didn't personally do it. I wouldn't even tell the doctor what our baby's name was going to be while I was pushing, moments before she was born. I wanted to see her first and make sure she was good and healthy before announcing the name.

No I don't think it's weird...but I was the same way. With DS, I didn't call him by name because I wasn't 100% sure on the name. DD has a name picked out and it won't change after she's born so I don't mind to refer to her as the name we've picked.

I didn't tell anyone our LO's name because hearing people call her by names we were thinking about really bugged me!
Maybe it was because we hadn't decided on a name, but people were calling her those names..? HA.
I don't think it's weird that you call your baby Sienna--that's her name!

We had to try out the names we liked, so we called him many names before he was born, but not in front of others til my last couple weeks

I think it's a little weird. It weirds me out in the same way that I think it's weird when people give pets human names, and then you are not sure who they are referring to when they just talk about "Ryan" or "Grace" or whatever.

I do. I can't do it, we call our lo by a nickname. I just think it's not real for me until she's here so, I can't call her by her name until she is here.... and real.

everyone knew what we were naming her, so they used it alot but I always called her baby. I thought it was weird everyone else called her by her name and we didn't

It depends. My husband and I call our baby by her name that we have chosen, but we aren't telling anyone else except our mothers (so far only his knows and only because she insisted!! I would think it was strange if people just said "Baby's Name" in conversation and I had no idea who they were talking about..and it's a little weird when people constantly call their baby by name on facebook, I guess, but it doesn't bother me.
ETA The reason I haven't wanted to announce is because I want to see that she's here and healthy, and because we don't want anyone to try to talk us out of it (not that it's weird or anything.) While it's nice for bonding already but just in case we change our minds... lol.

I thought it was weird, but I did it anyway. I didn't know what else to call her. I think I felt like calling her by name might jinx it all, but I knew I was crazy so I did it anyway.

Weird is too strong of a word, but I do find it slightly off putting. Something like jinxing it or something, I'm just weird and more superstitious than I realized.

I personally think it is kind of strange. All the baby showers I have been to have the baby's name pasted all over the venue as decoration, and I just think it's so weird! I couldn't name my baby without meeting her first!

This is one of the reasons our names are secret and we aren't finding out the gender! I find it a little odd. It'd also be odd to just keep calling it baby though too.

I think, if we had decided 100%, we'd call the baby by its name. But I'm pretty sure I'll need to see my baby before I decide for sure, so I might wait. I don't think its weird at all though!

I do but more because my family has a tendency (or at least the youngest two of my cousins) to change the names of their kids after birth. My one cousin found out she was having a boy and announced to everyone (including on her sprinkle invitation) that he baby's name would be Dominic; the whole family questioned why she wouldn't name him after his father. Well when he was born he wasn't Dominic anymore instead they named him after his father. My other cousin announced the baby's name when they announced they were having a boy except apparently her MIL didn't like the name so they changed it when the baby was born.
Since I am and was team green, this doesn't come up for me because I don't know what name to use.

I'm not sure why, but yes, I think it's strange. I guess maybe it just kind of freaks me out to be talking about someone by name when I don't actually know who they are. Or something like that. Hubs and I are keeping the name a secret because a) we don't want people to give us weird reactions to the name and b) we don't want people calling him/her by the name until he/she's here.

@skibobrown: We were the same way. I think part of it was superstition and part of it was that I felt differently about my little one "in there" and out in the wide world. So she was Lemon while she was a belly baby and it suited her perfectly and then Cecilia when she arrived. Everyone thought we'd call her lemon once she was here, but it didn't suit her anymore.
But I'll always fondly remember my belly baby as Lemon... and Mei Mei didn't have a belly name.

@purrpletulips: We had the same thing! A family member announced that their little boy was going to be Mason... then once he got here they called him Dillon. I still get confused as to what his name is!

@MrsJacks: my one uncle still calls the first little boy Dominic and said that if the newest parents don't like him calling their son by his full name (instead of the nickname they want) he's going to call him by the first name they chose.

I'm torn on this. I use her name at home, just to get used to it (and for the pup to get used to hearing it since it was one of hte tips I read online) but I don't really like using it in front of other people besides DH and close family. I want to reserve the right to change if I see fit without people getting attached to it.

It does weird me out a bit, but I actually don't know anyone who I am close to who did it. I am similar to @Mrs. Jacks that I had a "inside the belly" name for Sawyer (Ziggy) and now he has his outside name and in my mind they are separate in a way.

I had friends who posted a FB album of pregnancy and nursery photos before their baby's birth, and the name of the album was the baby-to-be's First Middle Lastname. It struck me as seriously weird. Then when the baby was born they just added baby photos to the existing album. I much prefer the pregnancy nickname, like Lemon, then announcing the name after the baby is born.

I have no idea why but it felt weird to me so I never called him by his name before he was born. I thought it was really weird when other people called him by his chosen name when I wasn't even 100% decided on it.
