I have been away from home for work since the 9th and don't go back until the 27th. I'm majorly homesick today. I get homesick almost always when I'm away even fora weekend, but this time it's really hitting me hard...
Do you get homesick?
What do you do to ease the unhappiness?

@Mrs.Someone: Vancouver until Sunday then off to Calgary and Edmonton for the week. I so miss my own bed and home cooking!!

I don't get homesick if it's a vacation with DH, but if I'm not with him I get "homesick" for him very quickly, no matter how fun the trip is. I think I would hate traveling for business.

I never get homesick, ever. I haven't been to my home country in 2.5 years and don't miss it at all!
I don't really have much advice other than to say try to enjoy where you are in the moment. Maybe making a countdown calendar of events until you leave could help as you check each completed event off the list and get a day closer to home?

The longest I have ever been away was a week so I never got homesick but for ~20 days - yeah I think I would just want to go home!

I do get that type of homesickess, one thing I try to do when I had been away from home for work is to schedule a lot of things to do...are you alone, is there someone that you can hang out with? I'd be going to dinners, sightseeing on my time off, going to the gym, getting massages, etc as time permits.

I'm a homebody but I like traveling for vacation! But that is *not* the same. I don't enjoy work travel *at all* and I just like to sit on my butt in the evening, eat food in my own house, and be comfortable with my husband, E, and the cats. When I travel for work, i try to take advantage of the local sites and restaurants. Food is probably the only main perk, honestly! Sure i work out and sleep in, but it's not the same as my own bed

DH and I have been moving every year for the past five years, mostly to different cities each year. That plus the fact that I LOVE staying at hotels makes homesickness pretty rare, unless I'm not with DH.

Yes! I miss waking up in my own bed and especially using my own bathroom! Unless I'm on an exciting trip abroad, after 3 or 4 days I want to be home.
