Any time I take a new medicine I get very nervous about having a dangerous allergic reaction and I monitor myself really closely at least for the first hour. I've only had one allergic reaction to a drug before and while it was a strong reaction it was nothing life threatening so I'm not sure where this fear comes from. I was really glad the first time I took Zofran was in the ER so there were medical professionals near by if I reacted. Anyone else worry about this?

I understand where you're coming from. I was on a lot of different medicines when I was younger. I only had two minor allergic reactions (rash/fever). I was on one medicine that had intolerable negative side effects - unfortunately it took us months to realize that. Then two years ago, I increased the dosage of a medicine I was already taking, and had a horrible reaction that could have been life threatening if I was driving.
In retrospect, my mom must have been going crazy every time I started a new medicine. If/when LO has to take medicine, I will probably just stare at him for hours. One thing I learned is that (ideally) you want to have people you know around you in case something happens. They can communicate with emergency personnel if needed, or just watch you to see if something seems off. If I can, I wait until the weekend to start a new medicine.

I've taken different meds regularly since I was in third grade, so I guess I'm just used to it.

I've never really thought about it, I make sure to read the labels but have never had a bad reaction to cause concern and just take it and forget about it.

All the time! I even get nervous about taking a different cold medicine. I'm so silly that I won't try a new over the counter unless my husband's home -- not really sure what he'd do, but I guess it's comforting to know there's someone there to dial 911?

Me too! I've had two allergic reactions to two different meds when I was younger. Just recently my mom had a severe allergic reaction to a different medicine and had to rush to the ER... So im always on edge with new medicines. It sucks to have allergies to medicines because you don't know what you are allergic to until it happens.... Sigh...

Yes! I have always not tried to take any medication unless absolutely beyond miserable. So far I've gotten through 28 weeks of pregnancy and didn't start taking acid blockers until last week...and even extremely limited quantities.
I have always feared having some weird reaction to some drug I might get while in labor. Weird??

I just started taking a fiber supplement and it says on the bottle to beware of chocking hazard if you don't drink enough water. So of course even though I drank tons of water I keep panicking that my throat is closed up! Hubs thinks (knows?) I'm crazy.
