Charlie loves to climb on top of me and have me be an airplane. Then we will pretend to dogfight the Red Baron.
We bank left and right as we fight and shoot at the Red Baron. Then we will fly straight up into the sky, and generally get hit by a bullet from the Red Baron and go into a tail spin (this is Charlie's favorite part). The only way out of a tail spin is for Charlie to push a button located on my chest that automatically brings him out of a tailspin. Then we will land the plane, and talk about our favorite part of the dogfight. We usually do about 3-5 dogfights before he's satisfied.
It's interesting to see how his ability to engage in pretend/imaginary play has grown a lot since we first started fighting the Red Baron. When we first started, he was kind of confused about who the Red Baron was and just wanted to ride me like an airplane. Now I think he likes the imaginary story the best, and the physical play is just icing on the cake!
Do you guys do imaginary play with your LO? Please tell me I'm not the only one!
