I've been combing pinterest lately and trying to up my style lately and bought some new stuff for fall. I decided to try out the half tucked shirt today. When I asked DH how I looked, he was like, "what's going on in the back?" lol. I kept it, but then I started to wonder if this is only in style on the Internet and no one actually does it. So tell me, do you half tuck?

I've seen this a lot too in Pinterest and Instagram but not so much IRL. I don't mind the look but feel like I can't pull it off- I feel like it would look like my shirt just got caught when I was zipping my pants.

I don't feel like I can pull it off. I love the way it looks in magazines, but I feel undone. Like I got lazy.
I grew up during a time when tucking your shirt in was considered nerdy. Then a few years ago, a stylish friend was always telling me to tuck in my shirts. And now we're supposed to do half-in, half-out. I can't keep up!

I only know of 1 person in real life who does this and that is because they are in fashion.
I personally feel like it looks like a child who pulls up their own pants after going potty, so I've never been and fan and don't do it. I guess I just don't understand the point?

I've been pregnant or post partum for over three years. There is no way I'm exposing my "abs" like that without seriously compression garments. Maybe someday when my stomach is my own again, and once the trend is over...

I actually had a conversation with someone yesterday about this! She had half tucked her shirt and asked how it looked...she said she felt kinda weird about it but had seen others do it so she thought she'd give it a try. I think it looks good half tucked...I personally haven't tried it and am not sure if I can pull it off but may give it a go at some point. And I can see my DH making the same comment yours did...but doing it anyway

@ShootingStar: hahaha I've been trying this for weeks without sucess! This was paired with my attempt to wear "soft pants". I think first of all, not all shirts can be half tucked. And I just can't get it right!

It reminds me of the half-tuck trend of the late 90's/early 2000's. I don't have the stomach to pull it off now.

Yes I do this often. If I pair skinny jeans with a blouse that's just a bit too voluminous I tuck it a bit in the front to give me some waist definition. I do it pretty much exactly as in your picture.

Yes, I do this. I think it looks polished without looking matronly by having it all tucked in (although I do tuck it all the way in for work since it's a professional environment.) but for fun, like in the picture I do this.

I have but only because this one shirt I love lost a battle with my old washer and there are holes in the front near the hem.

I just did this yesterday! I had on baggy boyfriend jeans and this tank that was a little long in front. I did a little swirly of some fabric around my finger and tucked that part in. I liked it because it gave a little show of the belt (on Pinterest most bf jeans have a belt so I had to follow suit!
Eta: my shirt was shorter in back then front so maybe that's why I liked it?

I do this when I'm wearing a shirt with a lot of volume, if I leave those shirts completely untucked I look lost in my clothes.

I work in tech so my work environment is a mixed bag. Some guys (even directors) will wear shorts to work, but there are other people who are much dressier, depending on their role. I like to dress nicely, but not overly dressed up. So I think my work environment is totally fine for something more casual, like the half tuck. But it's also not very fashion forward.
@snowjewelz: Thanks! I'm a little embarrassed about how wrinkled I look though, lol. It was the first time I wore that shirt and it got super wrinkled from sitting all day.

I definitely do this, and tons of folks at work and in my city. That said, I work in the fashion industry, so maybe that's why? I love it for flowy pocket tees--somehow dresses up the outfit a bit.
