Other than the fact that he doesn't have boobs my husband is just as well equipped to care for our infant daughter as I am. As long as he is armed with pumped milk I have no hesitation about leaving him alone to take care of her. I feel like a lot of women are hesitant to leave their LO even with the baby's father. What about you??

I'm 100% confident that my DH could take care of my son by himself (my son' is 2.5 yo). But my DD, I'm a little more hesitant. She's only 4 months old and he hasn't had enough experience with her to "know" her. So he wouldn't know how to soothe her if she went hysterical. And that would stress him out.

I have doubt my husband can care for all of my children. I just feel sorry for him because I know how much work it is. I know I am used o the daily grind of four kids and he is not. So my mommy guilt doesn't really stem from thinking my kids are not being cared for its more so just worrying about my husbands sanity.

He might pick out weird clothing items but he is soooo good with LO! No concerns!

Definitely! He's great with her and I'm really lucky that way.

Yes, he watches her a lot. My problem is more that I miss her too much so I don't like to leave her, not that dh can't handle it.

DH stays with the kiddos for me to run errands quite often. He's great with them.... AND doesn't wreck the house while doing so!

@runsyellowlites: hahaha quite the bonus! I do think hubs would probably leave a trail of destruction if he was home with LO for an extended period!

For the most part yes. I think he might not check his diaper as often as I would and might dress him in funny clothes but he is great with LO.

@MamaMoose: Well after reading about what one of the mommas from my April group awoke to after her hubby let her sleep & took care of the kiddos I thought I had to add that.

Yeah, wacky outfits and messes left would be my only concern. As far as taking care of her, he's perfect.

He is great with her. He just doesnt know her schedule well enough, and usually tskes direction from me. But i would be good leaving her alone with him.

Yep- he is amazing with LO and could care for her 100% of the time if I wasn't around. He's such a good daddy

considering i'm currently sick & left him with DH practically all day while I slept, definitely. there's a few things he doesn't get (ie, he left him in his exosaucer waaaay too long) and doesn't know his schedule quite as well as I do, but that's totally minor.

Yup! And it is important to empower your SO, as you said. If you're nervous, then you make him nervous as well.

he'd take care of charlie no problem. olive is not a bottle fan so he'd have a harder time with her, but he'd be fine.

Yup! He can totally care for him 100% as well, if not better, than I can. As long as he has pumped milk I have no worries whatsoever. He is so respectful of his schedule as well.

DH passed this with flying colors this week! I'm on work trip and DH did a great job with LO.

The toddler no worries, the baby is more of an issue as she nurses
He can handle them both until she gets hungry.

DH has the baby every day from about 12:30-6:30 when I get home from work. He's a great dad, even though he is not the best at picking out matching outfits for LO!

No. If I suddenly died tomorrow, he'd have a hard time. Last night I let him put LO to bed and she was crying in his arms for I don't even wanna know how long. Often when he holds her, he's trying to multi-task and doesn't really pay attention to her, which gets her cranky. When he feeds her in bed, he falls asleep and the bottle ends up on her cheek.
I'm sure he'll eventually learn in time, but right now, no.

I have 100% confidence in him but I think he lacks it in himself. He likely would dress her at al because he hate doing that and thinks he's going to hurt her. We don't have a strict schedule and I don't really care if my baby cries for a few minutes if we're busy so it wouldn't bother me if he let her cry. We have a VERY easy going baby so as long as she's fed, she's fine.

Oh I definitely do. He stayed home with her for a month after I had to go back to work. He doesn't do everything the way I would, but he has his own way and it works!

Yes! I am very lucky! My husband is wonderful with our daughter! The house may not be as clean as when I left, but the important thing is the baby is always happy and well cared for when I get home

Yup there little buddies together. Dh is great with p. P is always cracking up when he is with him and dh knows how to take Care of him just as good.

I don't have a LO yet, but DH is such a natural caregiver when it comes to the practical stuff, that I think he will be totally fine - maybe better than me in some ways. Last night, our dog was throwing up and had diarrhea, and I slept through it while he took wonderful care of him! One of the reasons I'm excited to have a baby with him is because I know he will be an amazing, very hands-on dad.

I do! I have full confidence my husband is going to be such a great Dad. He is so excited to meet our son. I can't wait to see the two of them together!
