I have a Cuisinart Griddler, with the flat, grill and waffle plates. It gets the most use as a straight up waffle maker, but I use it also to make mashed potato waffles, savory cheese and herb waffles, and it really dresses up a sandwich when it's used as a paninni press. I haven't ever cooked other things on it, like steaks or chicken though.

We have a George Foreman. We have used it to make hot sandwiches/paninis and beef or turkey burgers. That’s about it!

@looch: @jhd: Interesting! We've used ours mostly for sandwiches too (don't have the waffle attachment) and I was wondering if I was missing out on some sort of easy dinner (I really just want to cuddle my LO and minimize cooking time!) but maybe not...

@periwinklebee: maybe you could do a quesadilla or flatbread of some kind with veggies meats and cheeses? I gave up dairy and I miss easy dinners like that!

@periwinklebee: I mostly cook fish and chicken, and I just prefer that in the oven roasted on a high heat and then finished off under the broiler. It's a lot easier prep wise for me to marinate the fish in a roasting pan and just pop it in the oven as compared to taking out the griddler.
I love gadgets and recently bought a little contact cooker designed for desserts to make silver dollar pancakes (totally useless in the grand scheme, but the intention is to get my 7 year old cooking) and that one gets about as much use as the griddler too now.

I know this isn't what you asked, but our Breville Smart Oven (its a countertop convection oven) has literally been a game changer. Its a bit of a splurge, but I literally never use my regular oven anymore. With 2 kids, I was constantly worried they would burn themselves on the stove or I was constantly overcooking things because I would forget something was IN the oven.
The thing I love most about the Breville is that you can set a timer for a cook time and then it just shuts off. It can toast, broil, bake, whatever. We got the more expensive version with the built in air fryer, and it makes like chicken nuggets, frozen chicken wings, breaded items, oven fries, etc cook super fast for those lazy toddler meal nights. And I never have to worry about the kids falling into a hot oven or something (anxiety problems). Baked goods rise up like a dream in it too.
I can pop a quick sheet pan meal in the oven as soon as I walk in the door and just focus on my kids cuz I know it will shut off. I routinely set some granola, muffins, or banana bread in the oven right before I got to bed and they just sit and cool overnight in the oven, ready for breakfast. I can set cookies to bake for a treat while I bathe the kids.
My favorite way to cook a large roast beef is to put it on high heat for 20-30 minutes and then let it sit in a hot oven for several hours for a perfect medium rare, and I can do this first thing in the morning before church and by the time we get home, its perfect. That leaves a ton of leftovers for the week.
Can't recommend it enough. I donated my Griddler because I just never used it anymore.

@gingerbebe: I somehow missed this initially and just now saw it - this sounds awesome! Dinners have not really come together yet and we've done way too much takeout. And pretty soon it will be summer, we don't have AC and I hate overheating the house with the conventional oven....

So glad I checked this thread. We have the Cuisinart one and I never thought to do sandwiches, but now I want to try! We use it as a grill for meats when the weather is too crappy outside. But honestly, the clean up from meat is such a hassle that it doesn't get out much.
