We just finished our last refill (baby shower gift for LO 1!) of the bags. Have you tried a generic brand for refills?

@autumnlove: yes, we had one and we did buy generic bags. Once the diapers got bigger the Genie bags filled up more quickly & they're expensive!
The Target brand bags work BUT didn't keep the smell out & we had to change them more frequently. Boo!

We have one. We use the Target refills. I put a Munchkin baking soda round in the bottom of it to keep the smell out.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: oh crap, I can go up to a month without changing the Genie....since I only use it for the occasional disposables and liners for our cloth diapers. Maybe I will stick to the regular brand! Thanks!

We use ours in LO's nursery. We've bought refills at Costco, and they end up being cheaper than anywhere else. Haven't tried generic refills though.

My LO must have super-power poop, because even with three munchkin baking sodas in the bottom, that thing STILL smells! I stick with the name brand to minimize it.

@cascademom: ohhh that's a great idea. I'll have to remember it!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: @autumnlove: Thanks. Don't buy the new Diaper Genie ones I saw at Target the other day. They're just doing what I figured out awhile ago with the diaper genie. Those Munchkin rounds are great. It's basically the same concept as fridge baking soda, but for everything baby. LO likes to take it out when DH empties the diaper genie.

@rattles: Hahahah, I flush solid poops but the nasty runny diapers/liners go in the Genie and they smell AWFUL....no smell issues yet!
