I was always planning to buy a diaper sprayer from bum genius since that is where I am gettingmy diapers from. However I have seen on the blog here and on other sites a reference to the potty pail system. Is it worth it to get the potty pail?

We use a flushable diaper liner to get the poo out, and then we put it in a cheap diaper pail. Easy peasy.

Call me country, but I just wipe it with a wet wipe to get it off, flush. Then get a wipe wet and wipe it again so it doesn't stain.
I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who does that.LOL

I just googled the potty pail because I'd never heard of it. We have a diaper sprayer, and it works fine, but the potty pail looks like it addresses the two things I don't love about the diaper sprayer - namely, having to bend over a lot to keep the spray in the toilet and the relative shallowness of the toilet bowl. I didn't look at the price of the potty pail. If it's slightly more expensive than just a sprayer, it might be worth it, but not if it's significantly more expensive. Also, it looks like it would be a pain to store between uses...
@MsMamaBear: What a good idea! I'm going to give that a try!

I use the BumGenius diaper spray, and it is just okay. Before I would hose down my LO's diapers outside, and the hose worked great. The spray isn't super powerful, and I do get splashed from time to time. Sun bleaching the diapers usually gets the stain out for me.

I blogged about the potty pail...I think for us the sprayer is a necessity and the pail is just a nice-to-have. It's pretty nice with a super messy diaper but some are easy enough without it. I wish I could get liners to work...they always bunch up and create a bigger mess when I've tried them!

Most of the time DS has poop that rolls off. (He's 8 months and is on a variety of formula, breastmilk, and babyfood.) When he does have a PB-type poo, I just wipe it with a wipe and then stick it in the washer. They come out clean - cold pre-wash, hot wash, cold rinse with tide original. I have a feeling I'd have poop everywhere if I tried to use a diaper sprayer.

@ohapostrophe: it took me a while to get the hang of liners too, but now we have a system and they work great! The only problem is when someone else, like my mom, changes a diaper. She might as well not even put a liner in.

I really want that potty pail now! haha!! DD is 7 months old & so her poo just became peanutbuttery/solidish recently (she was exclusively breastfed until 6 months) and we use liners most of the time and also have a sprayer but I hate that it splashes

Just a diaper sprayer. We don't have an issue with overspray and we wring out the diapers after we spray them down so no drips when we carry themto the pail. It isn't like we don't wash our hands either way so wringing out the sprayed diapers isn't a big deal. We tend to put everything in a small wetbag and spray one bunch at the end of the day so we aren't constantly doing it.

With shipping the potty pail + sprayer costs $$76.95
But the sprayer by itself is $44.75 {free shipping}
I dont think the bucket is worth the extra 30 bucks.
