Well I just bought M a trench with Gap's ff 40% and some summer things so I'm no help!

I've noticed that in the absence of a real hobby now I gravitate towards shopping. Shopping is an easy filler for this pregnant, tired mama. Fortunately it isn't a financial problem for me. I have no style and am happy to bargain hunt. I don't actually buy that much but I spend way too much time thinking about what I could buy.

I'm trying to redirect my shopping efforts towards more productive things: shopping for a refinanced mortgage and shopping for a much needed new (used) car. So far I haven't made a successful transition.

I used to have an issue, but I don't any longer...largely because I've made several expensive mistakes and I don't want to repeat by purchasing ahead too far.

Mine has been terrible this month. I hate my job so I justify it by buying things for LO. We've been running out of all the real little things that were gifted and need things for solids and summer wear, etc. My Amazon prime and etsy accounts are a little out of control currently.

My shopping obsession for DD is far greater than any shopping obsession I've had for myself!

I'm horrible. The amount of clothing my girls have is insane. I'm an amazing bargain shopper but still.....I'm great at running tight household budgets in every other area, but am very bad about rolling the budget into the next month pretty often for clothes (it's not a problem financially, I'm just breaking my own rule).

I did a $130 Gymboree order last month and a $100 tea collection in dec. All stuff on sale but still! The Gymboree one I probably wouldn't have done if I wasnt on bed rest... And talking about this makes me wanna shop! Terrible!

I spend a lot of money on both of my girls. I have a million ways to justify it. Today I got a F&F coupon for Gap and I hit the outlet and went nuts. I also have a weakness for matching smocked stuff. I like to buy DD1 the Big Girl smocked dresses and then the matching smocked bubble for DD2. Justification is that this is the only time I'll get to dress them like this, haha.

Between buying for them and buying house stuff, I'm kind of a monster:)

@Mae: same here! And then I realized LO1 was so tough on his clothes (especially since he didn't have that many and they were washed frequently) that a lot of stuff wasn't in great hand me down shape. But kids clothes are kind of meant to get dirty, so whatever!

I really hate spending money on the bigger items - coats, shoes, when they will get worn so few times.

I don't think we have a ton of clothes and so much of it doesn't get worn anyway. Whenever I go to pack up clothes they have grown out of, I find a few shirts that haven't been worn.

I am excited about easter outfits though!

Nope. I saved everything from DD1, and DD2 is wearing it all, plus outfits people have bought for her. I can only think of 2 clothing items I've bought new for her.

@Ra: @PinkElephant: Ditto. I'd cut back a lot recently for LO since she's growing slower and increasingly picky about what she wears. But I had very little self-control at Baby Gap's sale today.

I'm having a very hard time with DD1 being super picky, currently she'll only wear one dress (I've hidden it a few times too), or leggings with a t-shirt. None of the cute sweaters or long sleeve shirts. I went a little overboard with Crewcuts and she despises it all

Dd2 is inbetween sizes and so I'm a little weary on buying her too much right now.

I'm super stoked about garage season this year, that will hopefully curb my spending spree!

I am a major deal-seeker, so I hold out unless I find good deals, especially for the LOs.

I go through phases. I'll go months without buying (a ton). But then I'll shop a few days every week and have packages and bags for days on end. Happens a lot during winter time. And now with my belly getting bigger and having a baby in a different season.... And with DH going through a shopping for work clothes phase himself

@Anagram: I totally agree with your comment that "free triumphs style for a toddler" in my mind as well. I was raised with parents that could have afforded to buy me new clothes but it wasn't a priority. Everything I wore was a handmedown, gift, or consignment. This meant they prioritized traveling with us and saving for our college which are bigger financial priorities than clothes for us as well. We get a lot of gifts of clothes for her and when we need to supplement that we'll shop at Goodwill or yard sales during the summer. Definitely not judging people who buy cute clothes for their kids at all; that's great and your kid is likely better dressed than mine It's just a personal/family priority.

Not anymore. Maybe in her first year...but that novelty has kind of worn off now!

@shopaholic: I think I'd feel less guilty if I was shopping at Baby Gap or Carters or something because at least then you are getting deals. I spend a good portion of the day on IG because of W&H so I mostly shop small snd that can get ridiculously expensive. $30 on a pair of shorts?! Really? Yet I can't stop because it's sooooo cute.

@Ra: Can you sew at all? shorts are *so absurdly easy* to make. I have a feeling it'll be my addiction this summer. But yeah, $30 for a pair of shorts that took 30 minutes to make and $5 worth of fabric is not something I can stomach!
