Do you have a HOA fee? How long have you been living in your house and has it gone up?

Our HOA dues are $180 quarterly, but we have multiple community pools and whatnot so that is why the fee is pretty high. We've been living here since June of 2011 and the rates have not changed.

We have one, but it's not mandatory. I think it's just $60 a year but I could be wrong. We've just been living here a couple of years.

we just moved in. we have a HOA fee of something like $14/month. it covers the maintenance of all play grounds, common area landscaping, and um...I'm not too sure what else, ha!

Our HOA fee is $185 a month, it used to be $180 but we agreed to the $5/month increase last year. We've lived in our place since 2007.

Ours is $125 annually. We just moved in and the fee apparently went up by $25 sometime in the past year or two.
DH previously lived in a new build townhouse where the HOA was twice that much every month! Insane!

Our fee is $98/quarterly. It covers the pool, fitness center, play ground, tennis and basketball courts, landscaping for common areas...and surely some other stuff I'm forgetting.

We pay $150 annually. We've been here a year and it hasn't changed yet.

Ours is $120 quarterly, it covers garbage, common area landscaping, the pool and basketball courts and the playground. We have only lived here for 2 years but it hasn't changed in that time.
Last year our HOA actually was able to foreclose on a house that wasn't following the HOA guidelines, so money went towards the legal fees for that since the court ordered the homeowner to pay the HOA's legal fees and the homeowner was still refusing.

@artbee: How does that work? Do people just pay when they think they need upkeep?
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
@autumnlove: I guess. DH thinks people are guilted into it because you can see who pays on the website. But I feel like nobody actually looks at the website. We pay because it's really not that much money and it's worth it to us to have a nice looking neighborhood.

No HOA and I'm so glad!!! Don't have to check with the HOA president to obtain a permit for every. little. thing.

Ours is $200 a month and we've been living here since 2005. I am assuming that the fees are for the upkeep of the landscaping considering we don't have a community pool (most houses here have their own). They were going increase it a couple years ago but it was voted against and they ended up getting rid of our security patrol. I hate having an HOA.

Our is $75 a year, so not bad, but the don't do anything with it so it still bothers me. I have no idea where the money goes!

Ours is $688 a year and I hope it doesn't go up! I don't mind the HOA... I actually like living in a gated community with restrictions.

We've lived in our townhome for almost 3 years and our fee is $360 a month...so expensive. The only good thing is that there's a large savings in case the roofs or siding needs to be repaired so we wouldn't have to worry about paying an excess fee. It's gone up $10 or so in the past couple years. We are hoping to move next year as my husband is sick of paying the fee, especially since it really only covers landscaping and snow removal.

We do, but we live in a condo. It is $450 a month, but that includes electric, gas, water, basic cable and HOA fees. It is super nice just having one bill to cover everything each month and knowing how much it is.
It might the only plus to our condo, though

We've been here 5 years, it's $125/quarterly and it has not gone up.

Ours is $115 a month and hasn't gone up in the 3.5 yrs we've lived here. We live in a small 6-unit building and most of the time we forgot to pay it for months on end. And no one ever says anything. Of course we make it up with some big checks when we remember, haha.

Ours is about $80/month but includes a 24 hour guard, as well as landscaping/ trash pick up. It's gone up about $15 in two years.
