We can't have a lot of tchotchkes out because our dog would eat them when we leave. We have some stuff on the mantel (which I want to get rid of most of it, just waiting to find something else that I want on there instead) and we have some stuff in a china cabinet. But I don't mind that because it's all tucked away in there. It's hard because I get a lot of tchotchkes for gifts because I collect pigs, so I don't know what to do with them all.

I am a knick knacky person but my husband is not!! So I am forced to keep it to a minimum!

@artbee: i am a decorating freak and pretty much everything in my house is from a thrift store, an antique store, or repurposed! my house is full of vintage tchotckes. i love mid-century stuff and the quirky little figurines they made back then!
haha ETA: I knew what you were talking about because I went to interior design school.

We have a few... most of them are sentimental things DH has accumulated and are in his office. We also have a few things that we were given as wedding gifts, like crystal vases, that we have out on a table with framed photos. I don't love the look but it makes our home look more complete.

@Andrea: I subscribe to oj library where they send you free Jewish books and cds. My favorite book so far is yidish for babies -its so cute. A quote from it "if you want to start a ruckus, raise your arms and shake your tuches! "

@daniellemybelle: I make my husband take all his tchotchkes to his office... at work. Best of both worlds. He gets to keep them and I don't have to see them.

My DH despises having knick-knacks lying around, so they actively make their way to the garbage can/donation box! I am not a fan of clutter either, so I am definitely okay with eliminating them!

DH and I both hate knick-knacks but we are gifted a LOT of them from my family. Every. single. holiday. we get more junk.
Some of it I don't use but I usually feel guilty and put some of it out...I'd feel bad if the gift-giver came over to my house and didn't see it sitting around somewhere. Sigh!
