We talked in another thread about reading to your kids... what about you. Were you read to as a kid? Did you love books?
I don't remember anyone reading to me (although I could've been too young to remember). But my dad and grandma instilled in me a love of books, and I spent most of my childhood reading. (This was before the internet and before Barnes and Nobles, so I would go to these things called "libraries". Also, secondhand book stores.)
Also, I was a newspaper boy for six years of my life. So I read the frontpage of over 2,000 papers... and often, every article in the newspaper as well.
Do you have a love of reading, and where did it come from? Did your parents read books to you?
My mom says that my grandma used to read to me all the time, and she thinks that's where it came from. Who knows...I just hope my kids love to read as well. I'm definitely planning on having it be a part of their daily routine.
seriously though, I read all day long every day. Unless I have to teach or grade papers. I've always been a big reader, my parents read to me a lot, though I didn't learn to read to myself until 1st grade. I get completely lost in novels sometimes, I actually can't let myself read too much on vacations with dh bc I get too wrapped up in them to appreciate "us" time, I didn't bring a single book on our honeymoon because of it.
