I've been reading these days about secret savings accounts... apparently they are becoming increasingly common. I read it on Yahoo Answers, so it has to be true.
Do you have a secret savings account? Would you ever consider putting some money away in a secret account, just in case?

I have a personal account, but it isn't a secret and no money has been taken out or put in since we opened up a joint account eons ago. I think of it as an emergency stash for the future.

Nope. We don't keep secrets from one another (well, unless it's about a surprise party or something). We each have separate savings accounts but we pretty much know what each person has in theirs. We use those accounts for gifts for each other.

When I became pregnant, I opened up a new account and put $200/month into it and used it to purchase anything baby-related. I told the hubs about it and he said it was a great idea but he actually does not have access to this account. So, hypothetically, I COULD put money into it "just in case" but I don't feel the desire to at all.

I have a separate account but we use it to stash money for gifts and house purchases. That way I don't spend too much on those items. It's not a secret.

@mrbee: Oh, just to keep track of how much we were spending on baby things. Usually when the hubs and I are out shopping, one of us would pay, and then transfer money from out joint account. I thought it would be easier if we had just one account for baby things.

No, no secrets here. Hell, I don't even look at our finances 90% of the time. My husband handles everything, and I prefer to stay oblivious, so I guess HE could have a secret account. Hmmmmmm...

Oh my goodness no. A penniless writer such as myself doesn't have extra cash to put to the side, haha! We have a shared family checking and savings account, that's it.

We only have joint. I don't have an income so even if I wanted (which I don't ) I wouldn't have money to put in it. The only secret money I have is cash I save up for gifts for dh.

We each have our individual accounts, but they aren't secret. I do have an aunt that has a secret account, though! She's been married for close to 20 years, so she probably has a good stash, lol.

I have a separate US account but as of our last financial talk, DH can now technically access it, so it's not very secret. With the baby on the way, we both have access to all accounts.
