LO is 29 months and we still use a video monitor (Motorola) in her room. Not sure what to do when baby #2 comes along - do i really want to buy another $200+ monitor?? I'm wondering if i should just use an audio monitor for her and have the new baby use the video monitor.
What do you guys do in your home?

Xander's only going to be 22 months when baby #2 arrives, but I JUST ordered a second camera for our Motorola monitor. Supposedly you can hook up to four cameras to one monitor. Is that an option for you?

I don't have video monitors, but I stopped using an audio one with D a little after he turned 1. But, his room was close to mine.

We don't have a video monitor for LO 1, we were given a sound monitor but I hate not having one. She will be 19 months when LO 2 arrives & a two camera one monitor set up is high on my wish list.

We don't have a video monitor and never use our audio one, but maybe you could test out using audio only before #2 gets here? I don't know if you can turn the video part off and leave the sound on, but if not you could just cover up the screen and see if you'll be okay without it before investing in another monitor.

Our motorola can do two cameras but they don't sell just the cameras (super annoying! $300 for a double set) but we found just a camera on eBay for $80 so we're set!

@tororojo: That's a good idea - now that she's older i just want to be able to hear her when she cries out for us. But i've gotten so used to a video monitor that not being able to see her may drive me crazy!
@Mrs. Sunshine: DH was so against a video monitor but it ended up being our favourite purchase!

I didn't use one with LO1 until he was close to 2 years old. I bought a second for LO2 and use it often to check up on him. We use foscams so they're affordable enough to add another. I honestly don't use it much for LO1 anymore (he's 3.5) and would have been okay with moving the camera into the baby's room instead.

We are still on the fence. LO currently has no monitor in his room and it seems to be working okay. We had one but when we converted his bed we took it down.

We also have a Motorola and I bought it with the two cameras from BRUs when we were expecting our second; but we did have one older video and two audio previous to that just for our first! Granted, two were gifts but they all came in handy anyway. I still have the video and one audio and use the audio when we travel.
