A few months back my SIL got everyone worked up about some chemical in Atlanta's water. (the Erin Brockovich cancer chemical). So I ended up buying a reverse osmosis water filter.

Brought it home, DH got frustrated installing it, returned it the next day.
If you have one, which do you have? Is it easy to install? Is it reverse osmosis (apparently RO filters out the cancer chemical).

We have a Brita (Britta?) filter that is on our faucet and we also have the pitchers. (I take them to work sometimes just to have water at my desk all day)
I couldn't tell you if it was hard or not to install. I wrote that off as a man job. lol

@Miss Adia: I have a brita water filter too. I just drink brita water and water bottles from costco. I feel bad about going through so many bottles, but at least I recycle!

@CHOPSUEY119 Usually I will buy one big FIJI water bottle or get those giant quart bottles from Walmart and fill those up constantly.
I figure that we don't pay for water in our apartment, so why go spend $1.50 a day (or several times a day) to buy bottled water?
FH buys distilled water for his cooling tower in his computer and I just fill those up too.

We have a Brita pitcher, and then our fridge, but we mostly use the fridge. We would drink straight out of tap though if we didn't have the fridge (it seems colder out of the fridge!).

I'm not sure what the name of ours is called (or are they all called the same?) but we got one of these installed when we bought our house. My MIL hired a guy who installs these. We just need to call him to change the filter every year. I grew up using this type of water filtration system so when hubs and I got our own place, this was a must have for me. Sorry, didn't really answer your questions... but I do really like it!

We don't. We have a fridge dispenser but I normally just go to the sink. It's easy. Plus, our water tastes great, at least I think so. I am sensitive about my teeth so I want to make sure I'm getting the fluoride I need.

Our fridge has a filter so that's what we use...but prior to this fridge we used a brita

we almost got my mom that exact same reverse osmosis system for Christmas! but then she decided she wanted a really nice blender first then maybe the filter system for Mother's Day next year, haha. i thought it was supposed to be easy to install? i'm glad i read this... maybe we'll consider something else. i've been super paranoid about water after watching that documentary Tapped. Brita is great, but I would want something that filters it even more when we move out of NYC (the water here gets really good ratings) and back to CA.

Our building boasts that the water is filtered by system in each unit, but the water still tasted funky, so we're still BRITA-ing it!

@chopsuey119: We have a built-in on our fridge (came with the house) and we used a brita water filter for a while... I don't think there's a huge difference, but DH and I are used to the filtered water "taste."
