If you have an Ikea daybed (the kind that pulls out into a larger bed)--do you like it? Do you find that the mattress is too thin to be comfortable pulled out into a larger bed?

We had the Hemnes daybed for a few years and it was ok. It was inexpensive, cute and pulled out into a king bed.
But it wasn't super comfortable as a king. We had to get fairly thin mattresses, otherwise when it's a twin it gets too high. I liked the look of having the pillows at the back, instead of having a person stuck on the inside. But without enough mattress toppers/height, you can feel the cross bar. Also, the couple times I slept on it I would bang my knee on the side.

@Anagram: We just bought one for our combo guest/office/playroom, and plan to use it for LO's big-girl bed when the time comes. We have the Hemnes, which pulls out into a king.
We bought two thinner foam mattresses at Ikea, and that's great for when it's just a daybed/couch. It's not uncomfortable when they are separated for sleeping, but it's not the best. I got a topper and a thick mattress pad just to make sure my guests aren't unhappy.
It's one of the nicer pieces of furniture we have ever purchased from Ikea, and so far we really like it.

We have the Hemnes day bed as DD1s big girl bed. It's comfortable enough for a toddler and an occasional guest but I wouldn't be happy with it as my everyday bed.

@gingerblonde: @oliviaoblivia: We would also be using it as LO's big girl bed, and used occasionally when we have guests.
I was thinking about keeping a mattress topper stored in the closet for when we have longer-terms guests.
I'm torn. We have a queen sized bed in LOs room now and it's fine as a guest bed--but it takes up an awful lot of floor space and I'd like it if she had more room to play in there.

We have the IKEA hemnes bed as DD's twin bed and use a regular mattress on it (not the thin IKEA ones). We don't feel a thing (I've slept with her in it many times). We're very happy with it! It's sturdy and love all the storage space on the bottom.
