I don't... I really dislike voicemail, and don't want anyone to leave me one. I greatly prefer text messaging... so much easier.
Do you have an voicemail greeting recorded for your cell phone?

Yes, I have a cellphone that I use for both business and personal use.
I feel the generic greeting gives the impression of "talking to a machine".

Yup! I have a special one with music that I recorded over 10 years ago. Craaaazy! It doesn't say my name but if you know me you'll know it's me. That's why I don't put my cell on resumes. Not very professional. LOL!

@katsupgirl: hahaha I totally judge voicemail message when reviewing resumes!
I had one recently that was blasting hip hop and sounded like a bunch of drunk people yelling and laughing before the beep. Yeah, I never called that one back, haha

I use the general one that gives my phone number.
I used to get a lot of "wrong number" calls, so I didn't want people to know who I actually was. I prefer to remain mysterious unless people know who I am.

@rachiecakes: ha! I wouldn't call that one back either.
My house phone message is kinda like George's answering machine message on Seinfeld. I use my parents number for resumes.

Yep - something generic and pleasant, "Hi, you've reached Rubies. Please leave your name and number and I will call you back."

Mine just says my name. I hate when I call someone and just get the number and then I am not sure it's them but leave a message anyway.
In high school I had the trick one "hello?.......oh hi!.....what? I can't hear you!........just kidding! Leave a message and I will call you back!". My mom was PISSED the first time she got that.

@katsupgirl: lol a friend of mine had this when we were younger. "Believe it or not, i'm not home!"

I do-- but I recorded it years ago, so it still says my maiden name-- I got married 5 years ago!

I don't think so; maybe just with my name in it? I rarely get VM.

I have the generic one with my number on it. I hope its long enough so people will hang up in the middle of it and not leave me a message!

@MaryM: that's the reason I don't have my name on mine
I get paranoid about stuff like that and have a number that gets wrong numbers all the time.
It's my voice, "Hi I'm sorry I've missed your call. Please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible - thank you!"

No, because every time I do set it up, it tells me I have a voicemail upgrade and it needs me to re-record my greeting. I leave it generic.
