I have one for Gap and it's so worth it. I wish I had gotten one sooner since I buy most of the kids' clothes from Gap and Old Navy. You get extra discounts on some sales, and you earn lots of cash rewards.
I pay the balance in full, so having an extra card isn't a big deal to me. It's the only store card I have.

I have a Macy's card - it's good for some extra percentage discounts off of items. It's also an Amex card so I can use it for purchases outside of Macy's as well.

Have had a Banana Republic card for many years before married DH. Love that I can use it at Gap and Old Navy, plus the factory stores too. Don't have any others. Always pay off the balance.

I have a gap card for the same reasons. I love it! The interest rates are crap, but I always pay it in full and use it for the extra sale benefits.

Nordstrom and Macys. Nordys for early access to anniversary sale and free alterations. Macys for extra 10-20% off and for extra coupons.
I want to get a Target one too.

Loft - I like their rewards! If you buy a lot of clothes it's worth it. I don't use it much anymore (I did before I had a kid and spent more money on clothes), but I don't think the points expire.
I had a gap card, it expired and they never sent me a new one, so I didn't bother applying again.

I've had the Banana Republic card since it came out, so I have lifelong luxe status -- the biggest benefit of which is free shipping, no minimums, on BR/Old Navy/Gap. Totally worth it! I also have a Macy's card that I never use because I don't shop there; however, we got a big discount on furniture when I opened it!

Kohls is really great. Good sales and lots of great coupons and discounts. You also get the same deals on clearance items too!

Gap, Nordstrom, and TJMaxx/HomeGoods/Marshalls. Those 3 always earn some good rewards. I would be much too scared to have the Target card and have DH see the total sum we spend there each month. lol!

@shopaholic: lol, but the Target red card is a debit card only, so it just deducts from your bank account. 5% off any purchase and free shipping. I'm pretty sure there is no credit inquiry either - no ding to your score because of the check. So not much risk (unless you have a problem with hackers getting your personal information).

We have Home Depot (0% interest), Best Buy (0% interest) and Pottery Barn. We pay off PB and HD in full whenever we charge. We put our media room on Best Buy so that one has a balance but will be paid off soon.

I am thinking about getting Target, 5% off is pretty good.
The only (sort of) store card I have is a Disney visa, which I pretty much got because they were offering a free $200 gift card for signing up. And we live 3 hours away from Disney, so I know I'll use it. I think the reward is 1% back on all purchases, which is just so so.

Macys- worth it for the extra completion discount after our wedding (lots of gift cards + discounts = some serious deals). We haven't used it since.

We have a few. Opened them to take advantage of deals at this point all are paid off with no interest penalties as planned. Mary's Furniture, Crate & Barrel, Ann Taylor, Baer's (local furniture store).
Crate & Barrel paid off the most because using their CC allows us to get extra discounts on items. The other cards were really needed for one time transactions.

Target credit card - totally worth it for the 5% off since I spend so much there and we pay it off in full.
Macys - we used it a lot around our wedding, but rarely since then. I'm thinking about closing it.
I've been thinking about opening a GAP card, but since I am trying to limit spending too much right now, I'll probably wait until I go back to work.

I have a New York & Co card that I got in college, and I need to cancel it - the store in our town closed, so it's completely not worth it.
Also have a Best Buy card, and it's totally worth it. We take advantage of the extended 0% interest offers and buy all of our appliances and big electronics on there.

My favorite thing about the Kohls charge is that you don't need to pay it off every month, on the statement they give you an "Amount to pay to avoid interest" I think it's around 30% of your balance. But that's definitely awesome! Especially around Christmas!

I don't have any anymore because I've heard that store cards aka "revolving accounts" aren't as great for your credit report, though not exactly sure why. I am often tempted to get an ON/Gap one because I do the most shopping there and you can't beat their sales.

@Shopaholic - Yes!! My understanding is that the special offer for the $200 gift card was mailed out to certain people and may not be widely available. I know there is a widely available $100 g.c. offer, though. We are going to Disney in May, and we are going to spend the gift card on our trip!
