We have a bunch in our living room bc that is the easiest place for her to play while we can watch her and do things like laundry and dishes.

he's not even here yet and the corner of our great room is where the snugabunny swing is... i can only imagine how much baby clutter we'll accumulate!

I swore it would never happen but it makes DS happy and we're in a tiny townhouse.

We have a big house and yet there's stuff everywhere except their bedrooms. I guess b/c we spend most of our time in the main living area so their toys are there. Most of the basement has ride-on toys and a moon bounce. I actually like their rooms to be uncluttered of toys. When my LO is older I'd like to move a lot of their toys into their play room (which used to be our formal living room) and keep most of them there. For me it was inevitable! We just don't have ppl over for dinner much. LOL!

I honestly don't care. I kind of love that there is evidence of my little one's life in each room in my house it makes me smile when I put him to bed and see his toys in the LR, or his clothes in my room... idk why but I think it's cute

I totally don't care that his crap has overtaken my house. I like decorating yes, but we don't have $$ to invest in making the house look really nice so all our stuff is secondhand junk anyway lol His exersaucer is in the kitchen, his chair is at our table, he has a toy bin in the LR, his bath toys in the bathroom, and his room is full of his stuff!! I also find random clothes in our room too lol

so yup. It's everywhere. We have a small apt though, so it's inevitable. If we had a house with a designated playroom I might try harder to keep it separate.

Yep, it's everywhere. It was necessary when I was a SAHM, but when kids are in daycare full time you definitely need less stuff around. You just have to entertain them on the weekends and we go out a lot then anyway.

I don't put any toys in the kids' rooms because I like for their rooms to only be for sleep. That'll change as they get older.

We're lucky because we have a finished basement that we've turned into a playroom, and we also have a weirdly shaped living room. It's front-to-back and long and skinny, so there's no elegant way to make it into a big living room. So instead we basically split the room in two. One side is the living room and one side is the play area. Unfortunately the living room also has kid stuff in it since we don't have a garage... so the carseats, extra stroller parts, etc. are sitting along the side of the room.

I always make myself pick up his toys each night before I go to bed and put them in baskets I have set up in the living room so at least they're not randomly all over the place. I would say it's organized clutter right now and it doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I got used to it after a few weeks.

But we do have friends with a LO and their house is always a MESS...like it's dangerous to walk around because there are just toys everywhere. I always make sure I will never let the clutter get that bad!

We only have her jumperoo out in the living room. When she goes to sleep all her toys go into one basket!

Umm, yes. I like to be super organised but there's just no way with a baby. Currently (it's mid-afternoon here), I'm in our living room and I have a sheet spread out on the floor with a sleeping baby on it, a play gym next to the sheet, a bumbo on the other side, a basket of toys against the wall, a stack of books on the coffee table, a swing in the corner, a boppy on the couch, a diaper bag on a chair by the door, and a bowl with clean teething toys on the entertainment center. That's just in the living room....and yes, this is a typical day.

The good thing is that I clean it all up every evening and our house becomes "ours" again after LO goes to bed. Really though, I think it's just inevitable with a baby that baby stuff ends up getting everywhere. In the first few weeks following birth, I didn't want to walk upstairs every time I needed something, so I moved as much of it to the ground floor as possible for the day time. Somehow, it's just never made its way back up to her nursery!

@Minnie_Girl: seriously!! It is ENORMOUS! We didn't see it before receiving it as a gift and were shocked at how big it is.

So far, we have the swing in the living room, and sometimes his bassinet during the day. And random clothes that migrate it. I'm sure it will get worse as he gets older.

Not yet, lo is only 15 months so its pretty east to control. But I do see it happening. My plan is to get a toy chest in the living room so we can just have her throw the toys in at the end of the day.

Our thing is we have a dog who has separation anxiety and hell eat whatever is left out when we leave the house, so everything has to be cleaned up if it's not behind closed doors. So we keep all baby toys in the rooms, not in the living room.

No, not really. We make sure to put away things that have outgrown their usefulness. We have her jumperoo in the living room, a small "changing" station with diapers and wipes, etc in the living room, her high chair in the dining room... and that's about it. When I have cloth diapers drying, the rack sits in front of our french doors but I fold it down against the wall when it's empty. Her toys live in a big, wicker laundry hamper that sits under a desk. The hamper even has a lid so we put her toys in there, close the lid and slide that baby under the desk. It's out of sight and out of the way.
